People say weight but it's really not that bad. | | Similar Products Used: | Mavic ex729, bunch of cheaper rims | | Bike Setup: | was on my old dh/street hardtail, then on my next dh/street hardtail, then on my dh fully for a bit, now on my rigid skatepark bike.(they've been around the block a few times) | | Bottom Line: | I've been using these things for 3 full seasons now, they have been built on a few sets of hubs for different bikes, they were the first set of wheels I ever built myself. They have been hit hard riding downhill, landed on completely sideways riding street/park, and genrally abused as much as I'm going to abuse a wheel and somehow they're still fairly straight. I've trued them very minorly in 3 years. They're pinned together, but you know what? It works. The seam hasn't split at all since I started riding them. When I get another pair of rims for street after these crap out I'm getting the same again.

Very heavy. | | Similar Products Used: | Sun Doublewide, Sun Singletrack | | Bike Setup: | DH | | Bottom Line: | Even running recommended tire pressure, I folded the sidewall in on my front 26" Trailpimp while using a 2.7" DH tire with DH tube. The sidewall folded completely in so that at first it looked like I had lost that part of the wheel. With the same tires and tubes that I had run without a single flat on a doublewide last year, I experienced numerous flats. I bent the sidewall back out (it cracked where it had bent but stayed in place) and rode it the rest of the summer. The rim is still true and I'll keep riding it until it dies. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$60.00 | | Purchased At: | Go-Ride.com | | Strengths: | None | | Weaknesses: | Rims appear to be made of cheese and are waaaay too expensive for what you get. Pinned rims are low rent. | | Similar Products Used: | Original equipment-WTB Laserdiscs. 2nd replacement set Sun Doubletracks. | | Bike Setup: | Ironhorse SGS, Shiver, 5th Element, Sun Doubletracks, Michelin comp 32's. | | Bottom Line: | I had heard SOOOO many good things about these rims that I ordered a set when I finally destroyed my rear Laserdisc off the A-line rock drop. Those WTB Laserdisc rims lasted me almost 2 full summers of regular weekend trips to Whistler so, I wanted something at least as good. The lip service on their rim strips say "Atomic Laboratories-Tough as hell" and they have to be talking about the rim strips because the rims sure aren't. The first indication that they were gonna be lame rims was the fact that they are pinned and NOT welded on the seam. WTF? Then, the ride confirmed how lame they are. Every rock and square edge at Whistler had these rims clanging like a garbage can getting kicked down some stairs. I could not believe how beat they were after ONE weekend up at Whistler! The edges of both rims were bent over like a burrito (without ever pinch flatting) and the spokes were chronically loosening. They would loosen up after half a day. I took a hammer to the edges to make em straight again and tried to tighten the spokes to get the wheels true enough to last a few more wknds but, I was just plain disappointed since the original WTB Laserdisc wheelset lasted two summers. Now, if my personal Trailpimp experience makes any of you people angry, that's YOUR problem. Nowhere in this review did I state that I'm some badazz and I only weigh 170 lbs so, it sure isn't my fault. I never pinch flatted a tire even once so, the inner tubes are tougher than the rims?Bottom line: these rims blow chunks. Do yourself a favor, go to Universal Cycles and pick up a set of SUN DOUBLETRACKS instead (same as Intense Mag 30's). They're on sale right now for abt $31 per rim. Yep, that's about half the price of being "pimped". Everybody knows Sun makes rims that really are "tough as hell" and it isn't just a cool sounding slogan to go on a rim strip. Heck, even if they last half as long as the Trailpimps, I'll still be happy. I won't buy rims from this company ever again. Waste of money! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

(all ended up looking like a taco.) | | Bike Setup: | Burly, trailpimps Front + Rear | | Bottom Line: | Okay, if you want the bottom line, read the last two lines, but if your interested in my rambling, keep reading. Okay, here's the deal. I weigh 245lbs. for a good reason too, because I'm 6'3. Anyway, at my weight you wouldn't expect rims to hold up to 10' to flat, but they do. my frame died before them, my fork has bent under my frame only to be beaten out of my frame w/ a hammer, I have ripped my love seat off, bending the rails and bending the post, while running into a tree. Still they hold, not even needing to be trued. I've heard awe inspiring stories of local downhill races being won on a flat, and the rim wasn't even harmed. I now swear by these and will put them on any bike I get. I will know no other rim. These are tall, and/or fat kid friendly. I have never had a flat with these rims. The bottom line is that if you want the strongest most indestructable mountain bike rim on the planet, go trailpimp. You will never own another rim. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I bought them at a race when I cracked*** my mag 30s. So far they have stayed true with no flat spots. There is a dent in the side wall though, dont know when it happend but they didnt come untrue so who cares?? The bottom line is I went through 2 sets of wheels this season and the trailpimps havent failed me yet. Get em, you wont be disapointed!!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$55.00 | | Purchased At: | unrealcycles.com | | Strengths: | Very sexy rim, they are sooooo strong! | | Weaknesses: | nothing yet | | Similar Products Used: | Doubletrack, Doublewide | | Bike Setup: | Specialized Bighit, Stratos Superstar 8, Atomic Labs Trailpimp 24" rear, Doubletrack 26" front, MRP chainguide, Kooka cranks, Crowebar handlebars, etc etc etc... | | Bottom Line: | I had a 24" doublewide before I put this rim on th back, I bent the crap out of that doublewide, and flat spotted it bad. I put on the atomic labs trailpimp 24", haven't had a problem since. After every semi-bad to bad wreck I had to true the doublewide, the Trailpimp has taken eveything I've thrown at it, and I've never had to true it once. I just received a 26" Trailpimp for the front, but there was something wrong with it. I have contacted Atom Labs, so we will see how things go, and I will post another review.
Also hitting a softball sized rock? What do you think would have happened? Any other rim would have been tacoed instead of just dented. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$60.00 | | Purchased At: | Cyclesmith | | Strengths: | Bombproof. Absolutely bombproof. I cased a double stairset with two bent spokes... about 4 times... and I didn't even knock it out of true! My GOD what a rim. | | Weaknesses: | If you can call it a weakness, I'd say it's a bit heavy. But I'm not a wuss. So it's perfect. | | Similar Products Used: | Sun Rims Mag 30, BFR, Doublewides, Deemax, a LOT of rims. | | Bike Setup: | 2002 Letoy III, Dual 24" Pimps, Highrollers, Z1 FR, Hope Minis, DMR V8, Chieftain Crankset, Burly Urban Ride. | | Bottom Line: | If you want a rim that won't bend or break, BUY THIS ONE! A little expensive, a little heavy, but the best rim I've ever used, it's absolutely amazing you have to try it for yourself. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

you kick up a rock the size of a softball wtf do you think it's gonna do? that's one huge ass rock, go smash a rock into whatever rim you think is tougher than an atomic and we'll see how it likes it. Rim's are made to hold up on the trail, off stunts, not having rocks smashed into the side of them. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$200.00 | | Purchased At: | Airbomb.com | | Strengths: | "Pimpin'" Good looks, super stiff, offset spoke lacing. | | Weaknesses: | Tough to build up due to its shape, odd spoke lengths required. Valve stem has to be really long to make it. | | Similar Products Used: | Sun Rim BFR 24" (Big Fat Rim), Assorted Mavics, Araya Big Willy | | Bike Setup: | Sury Instigator (4130 cromo) 4" Judy Double Crown, 24" Trailpimp rear, 26" Trailpimp front 14 ga spokes, Avid Mech. Discs. Gazzolodi 24 x3" rear, Kujo 2.35" front tires. No Big Chainring. | | Bottom Line: | Great Rims, stiff, wide and not too horribly heavy. 50% of my riding is Trials, alot of time spent hopping on back wheel. Just for kicks I put my rear wheel in my truing stand last week after botching a manual and its still like a rock. Its even cheaper than its competitors, but still too pricy for a cheapo like me to be happy. (Prices are in Canadian $$) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$50.00 | | Purchased At: | Go-Ride.com | | Strengths: | Large arch type design Wide spoke offset Comes in black Cheaper than competitors (Mag30, ArrowFWT, etc...) TOUGH TOUGH RIM! | | Weaknesses: | Atomic makes too few in a batch, so you might be waiting to get your hands on some! | | Similar Products Used: | Sun Rhyno Lite (not really similar) Sun Mammoth (not really similar) Sun Doublewide (not really similar either) | | Bike Setup: | 01 Balfa Minuteman, 01 SuperT, Kooka Flip Stem, Azonic Ultra-Cross, Hayez, Azonic 454 cranks, Blackspire guide, FRONT and REAR ATOMIC TRAILPIMPS | | Bottom Line: | Here's my story. I like to use stairs as jumps. I used to run Doublewides. I was able to ovalize a Doublewide so frikkin bad that the tire would pop off on ANY drop (read curb). After starting to mash my second one badly, and not really wanting to stop lauching up stairs, I bought some Trailpimps. I had to wait awhile, but the wait was well worth it. Where I can kill a Doublewide in a month, the Trailpimp has held up to SIX months of the same if not harsher abuse than my Doublewide has. Bottom line, ARCH designs RULE. This one is quite tough, and has a wide spoke offset. My wheels were beef and flexed so little. I would like to test some more rims though, perhaps in time I will try some of the manufacturers, but problem is, they want too much money. So I'll probably be sticking to the Trailpimps. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$59.00 | | Purchased At: | cambriabike.com | | Strengths: | absolutly bombproof, loves to land drops, jumps, stairs, anything you can dish out, tall walls prevent pinchflats, 24" size gives better downhill control, looks beefy, no need to true this sucka, came with handbuilt wheel, reasonable price | | Weaknesses: | tire is a royal pain in the ass the get on, 24" size isn't very climbing freindly | | Similar Products Used: | Sun Ryno Lites, Sun DS1-XC | | Bike Setup: | 2001 Rocky Mountain Pipeline - LX/XT/SRAM, 24" inch rear Trailpimp on XT hub and Nokian 2.3 Gazzaloddi, 26" inch Rhyno Lite and 2.35 inch Maxxis MoFo DH in front, Race Face crank, Easton Monkey bar, Hayes discs, Marzocchi Z3 long travel fork (5") | | Bottom Line: | If you love downhilling, freeriding, big hit riding or if you just love beating the crap out of your wheels, this is the wheel. I've destroyed many wheels and I have a good feeling this wheel isn't gonna break. Choose 24" or 26" and beat the hell out of it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$390.00 | | Purchased At: | Factory representive | | Strengths: | they "look" like good wheels....and I use that term loosly | | Weaknesses: | Quality of product...Customer Service...Warrenty | | Similar Products Used: | Bontrager...Mavic...Shimano | | Bike Setup: | 2002 "Bullit"...2002 Marzocchi "Freeride Z-1"...Hayes...XTR Azonic (Shorty)..Chris King headset...Raceface Isis Northshore cranks and BB...etc.... | | Bottom Line: | This review is for the Trailpimp wheelset. At first glance the wheelset looks quite strong and well built. When I first recieved my wheelset I discovered that they were very out of true and were far from round being round(they were OVAL to put it mildly!!) I immediatly called the factory and was promptly told that this NEVER happens and that there "Quality control" process is of the highest standards of the mountain bike industry and that if I was to return the wheelset to the factory a new set would be priorty mailed right back to me the same day they recieved them...Fair enough I thought.
well I sent them back priorty mail(They recieved wheelset in 3 days) and after many emails and several phonecalls they finally got around to sending me a much needed wheelset back to me,translation....They forgot!!
Well there promise of replacing my trailpimp wheelset with a new wheelset was anything but true....All they did was "attempt" to fix the wheel which resulted in me recieving a wheel that arrived to me with two(2) broken spokes and one severely bent spoke. After trying to contact the factory with NO REPLY from them I took the wheelset to a experienced wheel builder who saved the day. Also they sent me a wheelset that had NO PACKING in the box which resulted in various dings and scratches in the wheels themselves.....So much for quality control.
To anyone considering purchasing a set of wheels from this company or from there factory representive...... (mtbjuky@aol.com).....Read my review and decide for yourself,I may have been a isolated case in poor customer service AND a lousy product but that NO EXCUSE for what happened....Time to put the mavics back on.
