Submitted by Larry a Cross Country Rider from Palo Alto, CA USA
Date Reviewed: August 25, 2002
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:HiBike, Germany
Strengths:Extremely light at a true 182g due to carbon fiber axle. Tune was very helpful in assisting with adjustments via fax, phone and email.
Weaknesses:Have to adjust freeplay with shims, cost.
Similar Products Used:Chris Kings
Bike Setup:21lb. Ellsworth Truth, with Storck Power Arms, Precision Billet derailleurs, Mrazek brakes, GripShifts, Speedplay, SID with Total Air cartridges
Bottom Line:Hard to adjust play initially, but once there, has not needed adjustment so far.

Nothing can touch these hubs for lightness.

Submitted by Eric Hos a Cross Country Rider from Palo Alto
Date Reviewed: April 8, 2002
Favorite Trail:Berkeley Hills
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Light weight, reinforced hub flange
Weaknesses:Price! And stiff rachet mechanism, back pedaling in lower gears causes chain skip, whatever, the bike, RD, or chain. Front hub is 'weak', bearings not isolated
Similar Products Used:Chris King classic
Bike Setup:Ellsworth Truth, Arch Supreme V brakes,
Bottom Line:Rear hubs are built stronger than the front hubs. But rachet is still very stiff, even after 300-400 miles and 6 months. Greasing only alleviates stiffness for a short while (2-3, 2 hr rides). Otherwise, built quality (thicker flanges, bearing fit, etc) are on par with Chris Kings.
