Date Reviewed: September 13, 2006 | | Favorite Trail: | Craigieburn single track | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Purchased At: | Came on KHS Team | | Strengths: | Stunning purple colour on freewheel body | | Weaknesses: | This hub died within 2 months and despite attempts by shop to fix it, it finally converted itself to a fixed hub (@#%&##@*) before the freewheel finally collapsing all together and when I took the rear wheel off to check it out, the cassette and freewheel body fell on to the ground. Luckily I was at the top of a major descent back to the car or I would have had a long walk. It spent more time at the shop than on my bike. | | Similar Products Used: | A bunch of mid to high end Shimano, Magura | | Bike Setup: | Standard KHS Team full suspension xc. | | Bottom Line: | Lots of people I talked to said Sun Ringle ought to be good but from my experience the designer of this one must have been having a really bad day when they dreamt it up. Heard from the bike dealer that they had had a bunch of problems with the same hubs on the other KHS Teams they had sold.
My advice: Don't touch this hub, and especially not if you are not in a position to have it replaced or get your money back.
