Submitted by Jonathan a Cross Country Rider from Christchurch, New Zealand
Date Reviewed: September 28, 2006
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Nice sounding, lightweight, looks good.
Weaknesses:Has started to make clunking noises when freewheeling after 4 rides (2 months old). Sounds like problems with the freewheel are a common occurrence (from talking to the bike shop)...
Similar Products Used:Shimano
Bike Setup:KHS Team Alite 2006
Bottom Line:I'm a light rider (65kg) but must be too rough on the hub, so I'd only recommend it if your a placid yet light rider...otherwise don't touch it.

Date Reviewed: September 13, 2006
Favorite Trail:Craigieburn single track
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Came on KHS Team
Strengths:Stunning purple colour on freewheel body
Weaknesses:This hub died within 2 months and despite attempts by shop to fix it, it finally converted itself to a fixed hub (@#%&##@*) before the freewheel finally collapsing all together and when I took the rear wheel off to check it out, the cassette and freewheel body fell on to the ground. Luckily I was at the top of a major descent back to the car or I would have had a long walk. It spent more time at the shop than on my bike.
Similar Products Used:A bunch of mid to high end Shimano, Magura
Bike Setup:Standard KHS Team full suspension xc.
Bottom Line:Lots of people I talked to said Sun Ringle ought to be good but from my experience the designer of this one must have been having a really bad day when they dreamt it up. Heard from the bike dealer that they had had a bunch of problems with the same hubs on the other KHS Teams they had sold.
My advice: Don't touch this hub, and especially not if you are not in a position to have it replaced or get your money back.
Interestingly the Sun Ringle Country Flea Front Hub has given no trouble at all.
