Strengths:    On paper, this hub has all of the right specs. Trigger shifters, 36h, disc, not-rapid-rise shifting, fast shifts, great single-speed chain line, half the price of a Rohloff.

Weaknesses:    Not at all suitable for mountain biking. After 5 warranty replacements, shimano has told me that my modest gear ratio is too low. With a 32/20 input gear, you basically destroy 2nd gear when you try to do a tough climb with it.

Bottom Line:
When you first install this hub, it seems like a dream come true. The beginning of the end of derailers. Things work so well, you wonder why you put up with derailers at all.
But then around the 3rd warranty replacement, you start to think maybe you jumped the gun getting on the IGH-train. By the 5th warranty replacement, you get to the point where you're ready hang up the bike for the season, with the amount of money you've spent on a "reliable" IGH drive train, plus the amount of money it's going to take you to buy a whole new derailer based drivetrain so you can start biking again.
In short, this hub is perfect on paper, but is significantly unreliable. They repeatedly self-destruct. I personally expect a full product recall. Until then, I've converted my bike to single-speed, and hopefully shimano will give me at least some kind of a refund.
