Date Reviewed: May 24, 2006
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $23.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Cheap. Came stock with my Redline Monocog.
Weaknesses:What can I say? Mine is failing after less than 30 days use. Maybe I just got a lemon? Others have flogged their stock Monocogs for years without complaints. The cassette format won't let you change out freewheels when you feel like it. I'm going to replace this with a Surly hub, and a proper freewheel.
Similar Products Used:This is my 1st SS MTB.
Bike Setup:All stock 06 Monocog.
Bottom Line:You get what you pay for (if you're lucky!). Especially if you're building up a bike, don't cheap out on the hubs-especially the rear one! If you buy a Monocog, be aware this is the one bowser part on that bike.
