Date Reviewed: August 30, 2009
Favorite Trail:Rocks and roots
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $70.00
Purchased At:CRC
Strengths:Looks alright and that's it. No other strengths to be found here.
Weaknesses:Not serviceable. No spares available. Freehub is lousy. A really appalling product.
Similar Products Used:Deore, XT, Halo, LX.
Bike Setup:Heavy and durable.. except for this Coaster MK II hub of course.
Bottom Line:My old Deore lasted me for 3 years on another bike. This NS Bikes Coaster MK II started dying in 4 months of cross country use!! If you have to buy this hub, keep it as far from water and moisture as possible. The freewheel starts rusting from the inside if you go anywhere near water and then the failures begin. Skips gears, occasionally gets stuck, freehub wobbles so much you won't believe it even if you see it. I flushed the freewheel with spray oil about 20 times and rust kept coming out of it every time. Finally nothing could be done and the functioning became so irregular I'm amazed I got back home riding it.

The worst of the worst is that there's nothing to be done to this hub but lace in a new hub for the wheel. NS Bikes said it's a warranty issue and CRC would have warrantied the hub but I refused, I'm not gonna take another one of these, no way. XT 756 is cheaper and a lot longer lasting plus it can be serviced and spares are available.

Favorite Trail:Mendips
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $140.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:Great stong hubs, mine were laced to a pair of Sun MTX wheels, so super strong (more thanks to the rims)
Weaknesses:None existant support, the freehub body wore out after a short amount of time, and NS Bikes just dont respond to emails or calls, crap crap crap, I have bined them now and would advise anyone to steer clear of this company, there are many great hubs out there, NS Bikes don't make any of them.
Similar Products Used:Shimano, Hope, Whyte
Bottom Line:EPX terrashark, Maverick DUC 32 forks, Fox RP3 rear shock, Avid Carbon Brakes, SRAM X9 Drive train, SDG seat, DMR Wing Bars
