Submitted by Zeev Kovalsky a Cross Country Rider from Holon
Date Reviewed: July 25, 2005
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $110.00
Purchased At:SPECIALITY SHOP
Strengths:Quiet and very smooth operation. Rigid and light weight hub.
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Shimano SCOTT
Bike Setup:Ironhorse Hollowpoint frame; Manitou SPV 3-Way Swinger rear shock
Bottom Line:Great hub and so far has outlasted every Shimano or Scott hub I've ever owned. Virtually maintenance free and rock solid. This hub is beautiful both aesthetically and functionally. It's incredibly well engineered, very lightweight and very reliable.

Submitted by Tony a Cross Country Rider from Boulder
Date Reviewed: October 22, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $170.00
Purchased At:Cambria
Strengths:Looks cool. High Flanges build a strong wheel.
Weaknesses:Heavy. Freehub died after 1 ride. Rear hub bearings were very tight (might loosen over time, if the rest of the hub lasted more than 10 miles)
Similar Products Used:Shimano XT, Chris King
Bike Setup:Titus Switchblade + mostly yummy parts
Bottom Line:This is a review of the Kore Hoochie DH hubs. The rear hub uses a 3pawl ratchet that sits in the hub body. This seems like a good design to me, except that the freehub is made of soft alumninum. I am a 220lb rider and while climbing Moore Fun in Fruita, the freehub popped and shattered. This was on the FIRST ride. It could've been infant mortality, but after looking at the freehub design, I don't think this hub could ever be durable enough for me unless the freehub was made of Ti or Steel.

Bottom Line: It's going back to Cambria to be replaced with a Chris King.
