Favorite Trail:Lewis Morris
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:online
Strengths:big round tire delivers great suspension and flotation. fast and rolls well, light for it's size, and reasonably tough. best for a rigid set-up (required where I live)
Weaknesses:barely fits the frame (occasional rub), unpredictable cornering at the lowest pressures the big volume allows, requires attention match the pressure to the conditions
Similar Products Used:conventional heavy shoulder tire
Bike Setup:rigid
Bottom Line:I hope it stays on the market forever, otherwise i'll have to get a pugsley

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:big, grip in dry conditions
Weaknesses:none yet
Similar Products Used:mtn. king, saguaro, prowler, exiwolf
Bike Setup:fully rigid, ss, 29er
Bottom Line:as part of my quest to get the best 29er tire set up for wasatch summer conditions (dry, dusty, gravelly and ROCKY!) been using the prowler on the rear of my fully rigid, SS for about 10 rides. can run it at low pressure, ~25 psi with a tube and no pinch flats yet and feels super plush which is nice on a rigid front end. grips really well in the dry, dusty, rocky stuff - better than i thought given the nob size, but there are a lot of knobs. replaced a conti mtn king which is an ok tire until things get loose then it seems to wander around a lot and i could never get the pressure dialed. it was either high and bouncy or too low then i'd flat. the weirwolf is bigger and much more point and shoot due to grip and plushness. don't know what it's like in the mud since i usually don't ride the mud too much. but in the rough and dusty conditions in the wasatch in summer this is an awesome front tire.

Strengths:This tire is so big that my bike computer's diameter setting doesn't go up that high. It is huge.
It's also very plush! You can dial down to 25 psi with tubes, 20 tubeless. Hands down the best front tire on a rigid bike. The big size is great, turns trail chatter into a plush ride. Cornering feels really stable.
Weaknesses:Three problems with these tires, none of which have anything to do with how they ride-
First, the casing pierces easily. Before I converted to tubeless, I started calling these tires "the incredible goat head location device" because I got an unreal number of flats. Stan's tubeless solved this problem, but it was a major headache with tubes.
Next- Because it's a big tire (which is a strength) and because it has a thin casing, it's hard to convert these tires to tubeless. It can be done for sure, but the initial inflation is a bear.
Finally- when you're on a single speed and climbing dry to dusty trails, you can overwhelm the rear wheel traction too easily. It's surprising because the traction is so good on this tire everywhere else.
Bike Setup:Salsa El Mariachi- rigid, single-speed, tires converted to tubeless.
Bottom Line:Until there's more big fatty 29er tire, these are the only tires I'll consider rolling on the front of a rigid bike. I'm less impressed with the back tire performance but I'm not looking to replace the rear immediately because it's still a very good tire.

I give is a slightly lower value rating, because I feel like if I say it's a good value, WTB will figure they should hike up the price.

Favorite Trail:South Yuba
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:Ebay
Strengths:Awesome traction, rolls so fast for a big tire, cush
Weaknesses:None, I mean NONE.
Similar Products Used:Maxxis Ignitor
Bike Setup:Niner MCR9, Reba SL fork, American Classic wheels, XT shifters and derailleurs, On One Fleegle bar, Oury Lock-on grips, Thompson seatpost, RaceFace Deus stem, WTB Laser V saddle, RaceFace Deus crankset, Avid BB7's
Bottom Line:This tire goes like stink! I am blown away at how fast it rolls for a big tire. The traction is absolutely off the charts as well. I've only tried it in the bone dry conditions we have right now in Nor Cal, but in those conditions, it's velcro like traction. Really. For a big tire one would think it would be heavy and slow. Not this tire...

I am running it with an WTB Exiwolf rear. I can't imagine using any other front tire for my Niner. It's awesome.

Favorite Trail:Candlers (any), Peaks View (any)
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:on the web
Strengths:The massive air volume has tamed all of the wild rooty trails I've been on here in central VA. Who needs a rear-suspension?

The grip is ridiculous...better than any other tread pattern I have ridden. Best all-around tread for dry to wet clay and wet to dry roots.
Weaknesses:None yet...not as far as my riding style goes.
Similar Products Used:Doesn't matter anymore...I forget.
Bike Setup:GF Xcal
Bottom Line:"WeirWolf LT 29? is the biggest tire in the 29-inch world. It features a wide and supportive 58-millimeter casing, fast-charging center tread and rows of teeth-like side knobs. It’s so big you need to measure your rig before riding it, and it’s so plush you’ll never opt for another 29er tire."

That is what they said on their site...I happen to agree, 100 percent.

Price Paid: $40.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Fast, good grip on Hardpack, good steering
Weaknesses:Some Vibration due to "drum-like" effect
Similar Products Used:S-works, FastTrack, Eskar
Bike Setup:Rockhopper Comp 29er
Bottom Line:Been messin with tires of late, experimenting with large volume tires. I think vibration goes up when you use "balloon" tires, saw it with my 2.3 Eskars on my 26er, now with the WeirWolf 2.55 on my 29er. That said, I really like this WeirWolf tire. The tire flies on hardpack, the momentum is so good I stand up in the pedals on some long slight downgrades and the speed never seems to scrub off. The momentum also helps transitioning from short descents to short ups (I still suck at shifting), this helps me a lot. Only put it on the front tire, I have an S-works 2.0 on the rear. I hear the tire may suffer in certain loose conditions, but I got a Nevegal I haven't used yet in case that becomes an issue on a particular trail. For now I see this tire as good match to the style I ride my 29er bike (fast and faster).

Favorite Trail:Conyers
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Huge Volume, Rolls Fast, Easy to mount, Looks badass, No flats yet
Weaknesses:Isn't nearly close to a 2.55" barely a 2.3.
Similar Products Used:First ever 29er tire
Bike Setup:Jamis Dragon 69er rigid singlespeed. WTB Speedisc rims, Zion fork... not too many parts on a singlespeed lol.
Bottom Line:This tire rocks up front on a 69er. Could just be because its my first real ride on a 29er front end. I'm running it with tubes at around 28 PSI and no flats yet. Nowhere even close, I've only felt it really bottom the rim once and that was when I hit 8" tall root at like 15 mph.

I'm running this with a 26" Standard Weirwolf in the back and the traction is awesome. Front tracks and steers beautifully, rear grips like duct tape. Plus, I like having matching tires, even on a 69er.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Wide, cushy, fast roller.
Weaknesses:Not as grippy as some other tires.
Similar Products Used:Rampgage, Exiwolf, Ignitor
Bike Setup:Rigid SS with a big clyde riding it.
Bottom Line:This is a sweet tire up front on a rigid SS, it rolls amazingly quick and has good shock absorbtion. On the downside, traction isn't the greatest, especially in the back where I lose traction too easy on climbs and sidehills.

I'm sold on this as a front tire, but they jury is still out on the rear, I might go back to a Rampage for more traction. It's hard not to love how fast this tire rolls though.

Strengths:Fast roller. Corners well for how fast it rolls. Plush. Reasonable weight for the size (aprrox 750g).
Weaknesses:Not a weakness but is not a mud tire.
Similar Products Used:TNTC
Bike Setup:Used on the front of my rigid ride.
Bottom Line:A little story behind this one. Last season I blew out a kevlar bead on a 2.5 26" WW. This year I sent it back to WTB with a little letter for consideration for a warantee replacement with the 29" 2.55 LT. Within a few days a nice new 2.55 LT was on my door step. Grear job WTB.

Great fast rolling, plush tire. Good for more aggressive trail riding. Maybe a bit too much for pure xc though. Great combination between fast rolling on good grip on th e corners. You can't have it all you know.

Price Paid: $40.00
Purchased At:Bike29
Strengths:Other reviewers give fair description - my review concerns using this tire with Stan's No Tubes ZTR29er rims, yellow spoke tape, and olympic valve.
Weaknesses:Would be nice if the tire manufacturers could just put out tires that are actually the width they claim - every company seems to have different measuring tapes. As another reviewer noted - Kenda's idea of a 2.3 is same as WTB's idea of a 2.55 - what gives???
Similar Products Used:Mutano Raptor 2.4 (26")& No Tubes "The Crow" 29er
Bike Setup:Zinn Mega
Bottom Line:No Tubes does not recommend any kevlar bead tires for their 29" wheels with tubeless system - there is the possibility of blowing the bead out.
I tried this combo anyway because I had had such great results with the WTB Mutano Raptors (kevlar bead) on my 26" bikes and was desperate for a fat tire that didn't cost me two extra pounds over Stans "Crow" tires.
I'm thrilled with the results. It's a pound heavier (total both tires) than the Crows, but with the extra size I was able to clean three loose, steep sections and one deep sand wash that I had not been able to clear on the Crows.
I subjected the tires to high speed down hills, rock gardens, and plenty of off camber forces with no bead failure (I weigh 210 lbs geared up ). This tire helps unleash all the benefits of riding big wheels.
The Crows would still be unbeatable dry condition race tires - but for every day and all mountain these WTB's rock.

Strengths:Phenomenal balance of speed and traction in dry conditions, cush, durability (thus far).
Weaknesses:Would likely suck in mud.
Similar Products Used:XR 2.2, Nano (sorta), Mutano 2.4 (26")
Bike Setup:Rigid monkey SS.
Bottom Line:An ideal tire for riding in AZ; deals very well with rocks, scree, loose dirt, even dry snow. Seems designed for rigid SSing.

I prefer to run the rear "backwards" for better braking and climbing.

Strengths:air volume, feels like one inch suspension. good traction on smooth hard soil and rocks, rolls very well. light 790grams on my digital scale.
Weaknesses:grip, the nobs are just too small, breaks out in turns easily,
no traction in loose stuff. size. these tires are not wider then my nevegals!
Similar Products Used:wtb exi 2.3, nevegal 2.2
Bike Setup:xxix with pace rc31 mostly stock.
Bottom Line:the plushness is amazing. feels like full suspension. i wish they would be real 2.55 in width and the nobs would be bigger. will keep them as snow tires.
