Strengths: A true UST XC tire that works well as an all-arounder for the big wheels. One should not confuse this LUST version with the non-UST Ardent 2.25. They are totally different animals. This critter has big, thick, tough sidewalls that allows for low psi, monster grip with no sidewall squirm. It does well in mud, dry, rocks, roots, loose, hardpack, pine needles, etc... . I have been very impressed since I started testing the Ardent 2.25 LUST in June of 2010.Weaknesses: Those looking for XC weight weenie tires should look elsewhere as this tire weighs just under 900 grams. But hey - it's a true UST tire!Bottom Line: One cannot complain that there are no true UST tires for 29"ers available. This is one and if you want to play UST and run without sealant (you do have to dip the valve stems in Stan's goop to seal up the valve hole) - this is your ticket. Great traction, rolls fast, super tight bead and allows for very low air pressure to increase the monster grip without any squirm thanks to thick and heavy sidewalls.
Favorite Trail: Storm Mountain
Duration Product Used: 2 Years
Purchased At: Maxxis
Similar Products Used: The Maxxis Crossmark 2.1 LUST is the only tire in UST I have used outside of the Ardent. I have the Ardent 2.4 big meat tires as well, Nobby Nics (for something in the all-arounder or all-grounder category such as the Ardent).
Bike Setup: RIP 9 with the Ardent 2.25 LUST up front, Crossmark 2.1 LUST in the rear for XC and Endurance racing. Bikes are mounted tubeless on Flow rims.
