Strengths:    Grip

Weaknesses:    Could be faster rolling

Bottom Line:
Terain - Michigan, at the time of this review it was really hot for weeks so hardpack with lots of sand.
Rider - intermediate/advanced, 160lb, tire grip is my priority

Purchased Kenda Newegal and Conti Trail King for my 29er. Mounted Kenda on front and Conti on the back. (both with tubes).Trail King is a bi-directional tire so I used recommended direction for the rear. To try new tires started with around 33psi with both tires and gradually (about 1 psi at the time) lowered the pressure. Ended up with Nevegal / front with 17psi and Conti / rear at 19 psi and a lot of disappointment. Rolling speed was decent but grip was bad. I can understand lack of grip on the sand but on the nice hard pack (no rocks) I expected much more.
Kenda = 5stars ( on the scale from 1 to 10) Continental Trail King = 6stars
Next ride i switched them - Conti / front and Newegal / rear and WOW.. Totally different. At 22 psi Conti was rolling very good and the grip was great, at 19psi grip was awesome but due to low psi it was slowing down considerably. It looks like the Trail King is very sensitive to psi -more than other tires. Kenda does need higher psi or it will slow you down.
Kenda= 7stars
Conti Trail King= 9stars (and it is my new favorite FRONT tire as of now)
In my humble opinion.

None have lasted more than a few days. Bead tears from casing during high speed bermed cor ... Read More »
