Strengths:    I don't understand these people complain their seats breaking
and their posts breaking on jumps. who the EFF lands sitting down from a jump? That is the most idiotic thing i've ever heard.

Weaknesses:    none, if you aren't sitting on your giant ar$3 when you land.

Bottom Line:
Don't land sitting down you wanker

Bottom Line:
have not riding in wet conditions but did seal boot with silicone. Post has not stuck of felt less than expected. no it is not a rear suspension bike but i like that when I ride I feel less feedback from rocks and roots.

Strengths:    No advantages over any other sus. seatpost

Weaknesses:    Expensive and weak tolerances. Too much play from the beginning.

Bottom Line:
Cannondale makes somes good stuff. Unfortunately this does not fall into that classification. The post has excessive play, the rubbr boot split apart in less than a year. As a result of the play the post rocks back and worth.
I've had it sitting in the basement for years. If you see one come up on Ebay or mtbr, pass on it.

Date Reviewed: September 29, 2002

Strengths:    Fits 27.2 seattube without shims, good clamp mechanism, smooth action when new.

Weaknesses:    Rebound seemed less controlled than a USE post I had previously, maybe due to less friction in Cannondale post. As noted in other reviews, weather sealing is mediocre due to poor design (the round top of the boot needs to seal over a triangular slider). Action deteriorates quickly in the wet, and requires constant disassembly and re-greasing. But the final straw was the seatpost bending about 10 degrees to the rear without any major crashes. Cannondale claimed they had never seen that happen before, and refused to make any adjustments.

Bottom Line:
Cannondale needs to do a lot better for the price.

Strengths:    quick to respond

Weaknesses:    none

Bottom Line:
I read the reviews after buying my bike and it's obvious that water is going to come in from the top. So I used some "stretch" electrical tape. (not regular electrical tape) Look for it at the hardware store. It stretches like a rubber band but sticks to it's self. Anyway I sealed it up around the top. I also attached a small tube about a 1/2 inch long in front of the bellow at the bottom for air intake, due to the boot sucking in.
I live in Seattle, It rains half the year! My seat post work as good as when I got it. I occasionally oil it.

Strengths:    Reasonable travel
Fairly good overall stength
Two bolt micro adjustable clamp.

Weaknesses:    No top out bumper
Insecure boot fit

Bottom Line:
I've used this post for a year now and have made a few simple observations.
The post performs flawlessley throughout the summer untill it starts to rain. The problem with my post being the boot tension was too loose meaning after the first couple of hits it would drop down on the outer tube exposing the facets on its internal shaft which runs through the rows of needle bearings to the trail crude."Hey presto" one seized post.I dismantled it to find a very simplistic internal shaft running on a single elastomer.Certainly not rocket science and consequently no justification for its over-inflated price tag. That said and done I throughly cleaned and lubed the bearings and reassembled the post. Now the REALLY technical bit.I installed one simple zip tie at the base of the boot which in-turn keeps the boot up against the bottom of the seat clamp resulting in virtually no crap entering the bearings at all.As anyone who kwows anything about HEADHOCK products will be aware, it is absolutely priority #1 to keep the boot secured and in good condition over this bearing system. It would also help a lot of people out there if they were to used a funny little thing called "COMMON SENSE".Not a brilliant post but certainly better than it has been portrayed as here.

Date Reviewed: May 12, 2001

Strengths:    My wife and I ride a Cannondale tandem RT3000 (2000 model. She has found the suspension really good for shock absorption when it was working!

Weaknesses:    We have owned the tandem and used this seat post for less than six months and less than 900 kilometres travelled. When I first got the bike I had to change the Coda seat immediately as it was so bad. Now the Coda seat post has packed it in. The bike shop (Pedal Pushers Palmerston North have been absolutely excellent. However, it would seem that a seat post that you can't ride in the rain is pretty pathetic. In six months the seat post got wet only twice and yet now it is grating and close to being rigid.

Bottom Line:
After having read this web site it would seem as though the best course of action is to get the Coda replaced with a Rock Shox post. It would seem as though the best course of action is to stay away from Coda products. However, the Cannondale bike is great (so far!).

Strengths:    None

Weaknesses:    Worked poorly for about 2 weeks, and then seized up completely. Took it back to the LBS, and they wouldn't do anything about it.

Bottom Line:
Absolute garbage as is the case with anything Cannondale makes, with exception to their frames. Cannondale needs to pull their heads out of their arses. They think that they can come up with trick products, but end up sacrificing durability.

Strengths:    zip

Weaknesses:    absolutely everything

Bottom Line:
It lasted 3 rides. Then it seized up and became a rigid seatpost. I took it back to the bike shop...which promptly went bankrupt. I called Cannondale to see if they could help me retrieve it (why I wanted it back, I'm not sure). They couldn't. I'm surprised the company would allow such a poorly designed and manufactured product on the market. It simply did not work.

Date Reviewed: January 20, 2001

Strengths:    Great on your lower back, surprisingly plush, just the right amount of suspension without sacrificing the performance of a hardtale.

Weaknesses:    Heavy, expensive unless you buy it with a Cannondale, boot comes loose, it seized up on me after just one rainy ride (thank God Cannondale replaced it for free), requires frequent maintanence.

Bottom Line:
Well when its working properly, it does a great job. Its plush, comfortable and serves its purpose. But its really hard to justify the maintanence, the weight and the $160 price tag. I got rid of mine after about 4 months and just put on a regular Cuda rigid post.

Strengths:    99 Coda - it's simplicity.

Weaknesses:    Got a little over a year of use with the 99 Coda post. It became too loose over time and I chucked it for a regular Thompson post. The boot came up alot letting gunk in one time so bad that it siezed up. Once it starts getting loose, it progressively gets worse. Didnt bother trying the 00 Coda post.

Bottom Line:
Like 99 percent of the other reviews, it sucks a sh1t burger - and for 100 bucks it's an expensive burger to swallow.

Strengths:    I FOUND NOTHING BUT WEAKNESSES WITH THE CODA SUSPENSION SEAT POST. POOR QUALITY AND A INFLATED PRICE IS ALL IT HAS TO OFFER. AND THAT'S COMING FROM A CANNONDALE BIKE OWNER!

Weaknesses:    SAME AS ABOVE!!

Bottom Line:
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS SEAT POST. THE ROCK SHOCK SEAT POST BLOWS IT OUT OF THE WATER. AFTER I COMPLAINED TO THE CANNONDALE REP. ABOUT THEIR PRODUCT,SHE SAID "YOU GOT 3 YEARS OUT OF IT,WHAT DID YOU EXPECT"? I SAID ALOT MORE THEN 3 YEARS!! I AM SHOCKED AT THE ROCK SHOCK QUALITY COMPARED TO THE CODA,THE ROCK SHOCK IS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD. AND FOR LESS MONEY THEN THE CODA! DO YOUR SELF A HUGH FAVOR AND COMPARE THEM BOTH AND THEN DECIDE FOR YOUR SELF.THERE IS NO SIDE TO SIDE PLAY WITH THE ROCK SHOCK COMPARED TO THE CODA.HANDS DOWN THE ROCK SHOCK IS SUPERIOR.

Strengths:    is a suspension post. 2000 could use damping.

Weaknesses:    Backed up by Crapandfail. 2000 model stroked very well but bounced you off the bike. Rusted after 3 days of no use, jammed and dropped a bearing out the bottom. Boot let water in. Cannondale told me not to wash the bike with a hose! Replaced with a 1999 post it broke at the clamp and had bad stiction. Replacement wobbles and is looking tired. I am only 60 kg!!

Bottom Line:
Cannondale Australia have replaced the 2000 needle bearing model with the even worse 1999 model (it must be cheaper to replace!!). They don't have lay back, they don't work for very long before they break and Cannondale aren't very helpful! Even though this is my first Susp. seat post experience they are a great idea and I want a good one with lay back and customer back up in Australia.
