Strengths:    Simple adjustments
Smooth travel & damping
Useful rebound control
Probably cheap aftermarket

Weaknesses:    Spring needs breaking-in

Bottom Line:
This shock delivers smooth damping and absorbing performances...after breaking-in. I haven't broken-in completely mine, but I have noticed a great amount of change. When you just have bought the shock it will be STIFF so be careful. It somehow bottoms out but soon it disappears. This is a pretty big drawback. But all the other things work. The rebound adjuster in an ingenious design: you can change it when the shock is being compressed. The nitrogen cartridge does not leak whatsoever so it delivers superb damping. Add another chili if you're ready to break-in this product.

Strengths:    Cheap
Worked for longer than I expected

Weaknesses:    Broke after 6 months
Horrible Adjustment

Bottom Line:
The shock worked for me for about a year until the metal shaft started popping so I took it apart to see there was stuff jiggling around in it. I expected that from a cheap shock anyways

Strengths:    fills up empty space in my frame, and work for small jumps and street riding.

Weaknesses:    bottoms out all over the place on little drops and medium to large jumps, not much travel. adjustment is pretty horrible

Bottom Line:
ya i guess if you don't do heavy riding or dowhilling, or if you weigh 60 lbs. you would be fine, but otherwise you will kill yourself. i hit like a 5-6 foot drop and almost broke my cranks because i bottomed out so hard. i also bottom on average sized jumps. i weight 100 lbs! i would upgrade it.

Strengths:    came on bike
good adjustment for a cheap shock
not much maint req'd
customer service

Weaknesses:    considering the riding conditions....none

Bottom Line:
the shock took a real beating for about a year before the seals blew, not too uncommon for an abused shock. The cool thing is the support you get from these guys. They replaced the seals without question and sent me an extra set no charge. So for a cheap shock that does what it is supposed to and the customer service that comes with it, you can't go wrong.

Strengths:    it takes small bumpson single track 'quite' well and genaral cross couontry is fine.rebound adjuster works great

Weaknesses:    bottoms out very easy on jumps.also on small 6 ft drops.the spring that comes as standard is far to soft advise purchasing new one imeadiatley

Bottom Line:
this shock is great for small jumps and cross country/single track trails as it absorbs all the small stuff well and is smooth.however dont buy this shock if youv got more money lying around or if your into the big stuff an donwhill.good value for money if your on a tight budjet.

Strengths:    Can withstand a lot of heavy riding. Goin over Bumps you will not evan feel it you mess about with the tension on the spring! Rebound can really work in the right situations!

Weaknesses:    spring not very strong! not a lot of travel!

Bottom Line:
Can be improved greatly, if on a bigger budget go for it bigger brother (Glyde PVA), bottoms out on big hills!! If you will use it for jumping get a better spring as the one on it will not withhold! Great component if on a small budget!

Strengths:    Cheap and simple design

Weaknesses:    Seals and rebound function

Bottom Line:
This product is acceptable but not recommendable if you have a bigger budget.

On my second or 3rd year on it, the wear and tear takes its toll fast. Its squeeking, the rebound is not working correctly and sand gets in to the shock. But remember that this shock is getting old.

So, if its a short term solution, go for it, but if its a permenent shock, I suggest you get something better.

Date Reviewed: January 27, 2006

Strengths:    This came with my Specialized Big hit and i love the bike so much. Its really smooth and looks cool on the bike. Very reliable.

Weaknesses:    Afet a year of beating the living crap out of the bike ( im talking 6-8" drop offs and lots of high speed bumps that rattle your teeth) the only problem i had with the shock was the rebound dial broke. BUT, i fixed this preety well by putting heavy oil and stiff spring.

Bottom Line:
Very good shock just dont do downhill stuff with a freeride shock. I only gave it 4 chilis cause i felt it should have lasted more than a year, but, then again i did beat the crap out of it. If you dont ride as hard as me, id give it 5 chilix.
