Strengths: ROCK SOLID, SILKY SMOOTH, VERY EASY TO SET UP AND TUNE,
GREAT TECH SUPPORTWeaknesses: ALITTLE HEAVY...ONLY A LITTLE FOR MEBottom Line: RECOMEND PRODECT TO ANY FREERIDE AND BOMBERS OUT THERE.
EASY TO SET UP AND COMFY FOR EPIC RIDES ALSO, I DO MOSTLY LONG RIDES DUE TO MY AREA YET I RACE A COUPLE OF DH EVENTS A YEAR ON THE SAME BIKE. DIFFERENT TIRES AND A DIFFERENT STEM AND IT IS A SWEET PEDALER FOR ALL OCCASIONS.
Favorite Trail: GOAT TRAIL IN FORT ORD CA.

Strengths: its huge, it feels heaps better than a rock shox pro deluxe. Very smooth.Weaknesses: none yetBottom Line: Its an excellent shock which so far has performed very well. It has shown just how bad rock shox are. Make sure you get the correct lengh of hose.

Strengths: It works, it's heavy, it's stiff as hello, incredibly smooth.
Like sitting on a marshmallow.Weaknesses: N/ABottom Line: The El Jefe may not be the best shock on earth, or be the ubershock that everyone's talking about, or have a trillion adjustments; it's just an incredibly solid shock that performs.
Personally, I'm not interested in the negative approach holding pressure, inside out ramping spring rate, medium downward release reciprocity threshold; none of it actually improves anyone's riding...for me, all of that is actually taking away from the art of riding a bike. It's turning the whole sport into who can spend more money for more b.s. so that they can have some high-tech lingo that separates them from the rest of the bunch. None of it means anything.
It's incredibly funny how so many people strut around talking about their bikes as if they designed and welded them.........HELLO! - YOU ONLY BOUGHT THE STUFF! So quit strutting around and ride.
I've said my piece, thank you for sitting through it. Please email me (BilDottCom@aol.com) if you have disputes or want to agree, I enjoy stimulating conversation about the sport I love.
Oh yeah, the El Jefe is a top notch shock and I'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks again.

Strengths: Super Plush, Great investment for the bike and for the money. Plus so far outstanding performanceWeaknesses: None, Except you really need to know what length of the hose u need!Bottom Line: For the money it is outstanding buy. I had Fox Vanilla RC and i had to send it to recharge the nitrogen and just to service it every half of the year. Really, Fox Vanilla doesn't even comes close to this shock. Stratos El Jefe is so much bigger, better and worth the money. If you have a choice between El Jefe and Fox, go for El Jefe without any doubt, it will blow you mind and make you more confident in your bike. Just make sure that you call them up first to see if this shock would fit your bike. Cause i had to play with it until i got it setup right.
