Strengths:    works well, feels great, good entry-level shock

Weaknesses:    tricky to get proper pressure, pedal bob

Bottom Line:
Keep in mind that this shock came on my first mountain bike (former bmxer) so i have a particular slant to my view. This seems like a very good budget shock. when set at the right pressure, the shock keeps the trail smooth, and keeps you from worrying about the rear end of the bike, and even minimalizes pedal bob. But getting it at that right pressure is the tricky part. It has a very narrow sweet spot, so getting it will take a lot of twiddling. But the good news is that it keeps pressure well, so once it's there, you don't have to mess with it for a while.
So all in all, this product is a great upgrade from a low-end coil shock, and nothing to complain about on a starter trail bike like mine. Just don't compare it to a fox RP23 or something in that category, because that's like comparing a Toyota Corolla and a Bentley.

Strengths:    Simple controls; was free with bike

Weaknesses:    No lockout

Bottom Line:
It is a nice entry level shock. I would not have bought it for my bike but it came with the frame I built up. I figure I will trash it and replace. It works with no issues and my only complaint mainly is no lockout or minute dial in setting like some shocks. But like I said, it is entry level and rather good and functions for the purpose and price. If you need a economy shock don't hesitate with this one. If you need extra features and bling then never give it a second look.

Strengths:    stiff, light, easy to maintain

Weaknesses:    none, if you compare it to its own class.

Bottom Line:
pretty good, no problem at all, keeps the air inside well. Lubricate the shaft, it feels nicer.
Air pressure is important if you are gonna abuse it, i'm 185 lbs, 120psi would be enough for XC trails, 110psi would be better for rocky trails for traction, but if you dont want it to bottom out, pumping it up to 150psi would be great for 6-7 feet drop flat. but at 120 would be ok for everything. Carry a shock pump, you would wanna change the pressure before riding at different trails.

Strengths:    doesn't loose pressure

Weaknesses:    no freakin end-progressivity

Bottom Line:
it works pretty nice for xc-tours, and if your chainstays works properly you wont really miss the lock-out function...

but god dammit, it does not allow to use your travel till the end! it always stop at 3/4 of travel, no matter what i do. but hey, it was stuck on the bike and ill ride it till it's dead, who needs a perfect rear shock on xc-rides anyway....

Strengths:    Cheap; smooth; simple

Weaknesses:    Only one adjustment

Bottom Line:
It works great for what it is (so far). It's WAY better than the cheap coil spring forks. Compared to a hart tail it's like riding on a sofa. I set the sag at the recommended 10mm which results in no noticeable pedal bob during normal riding. I'd like it a little softer, but without something like Fox's Pro-pedal I get too much pedal bob. I guess I can't fault it for not being something it's not designed to be. You can slow the rebound though which is very nice and keeps your butt from being launched from the seat so much on a hard bump.

I'd buy a used Fox with pro pedal before I bought this shock new, but it came on my frame so I'll give it a shot. So far so good. I wouldn't avoid buying a bike with this shock, but I wouldn't suggest going out and buying the shock only either. There are better ones out there (Fox).

Strengths:    It doesnt want to loose pressure. 4months one pumping.
It is good for my ride style, it can hold me on the rougher steeps. Just like a big limousine :)

Weaknesses:    I dont know... Probably a fox dhx5 would be better :), but it isnt a weakness

Bottom Line:
This is my first rear shock, so I havent many experience.
I like this shock, now I cant imagine how can be five times better a five times expensive shock...

Strengths:    Pretty smooth, simple to use. Kept the back tire down and on the ground.

Weaknesses:    Maybe a lil to simple. All it had was rebound adjust

Bottom Line:
This is a good simple entry level rear shock that gives the rider experience in dealing w/ rebound adjusting. It works well. Its not your top of the line shock but it will do what it is supposed to do for the price. I have since replaced my shock w/ a Fox Float RP23 because I wanted to upgrade it and have more adjustability. But I still think it is a good shock and will keep in as a spare or when i need to send my Fox off for service.

Strengths:    It kept my seat in the air?

Weaknesses:    Hmm... Noisy, Squeaky, Not smooth. I didn't realize how horrible this shock was until I installed my new Fox RP23. The Fox is like butter! This shock only belongs on Wal-Mart bikes.

Bottom Line:
This thing is useless. No... I'll take that back, you could use it for a paperweight.
