Strengths:    The name FOX good reputation...sturdy...seems to work good. Looks good .. Good for a guy like me who doesn't get too crazy. Pedeling is good if you tighten the damper all the way...

Weaknesses:    Paint came off after one adjustment..I cannot get my fingers in to the tight spot to mess with the damping..

Bottom Line:
For a novice its great..an the price is good from what I see on other reviews..If I had a million dollars I would spend more money and get the best

Strengths:    Strong, reliable, plush, and cheap. Basically everything you could want in a shock.

Weaknesses:    No adjustability besides turning the spring, which isnt that effective.

Bottom Line:
Great shock for anyone who isnt a stickler for dialing in there shock to there personal preference. Good for DH/Freeride. A little too plush to be doing any kind of pedalling. Overall great product for price.

Date Reviewed: September 5, 2006

Strengths:    plush, reliable, affordable, no air to leak

Weaknesses:    no compression adjustment, for the price cant complain about other adjustments - just get a DHX.

Bottom Line:
A great product for aggressive cross county riding where the tuning on the DHX is not necessary.

(not sure if it's just the rebuild or the Push upgrade service?) I have the option to buy a used (online) 2007 DHX 3.0 for under $70. Trying to stay o ... Read More »

06 Fox Vanilla R(no reservoir) vs. '07,'08 with reservoir.

Picked up a new '06 Fox Vanilla R (no resevoir) rear coil shock recently. Problem: right at the beginning of the compression stroke the shock feels loose. Kind of makes a faint loose clunking sound. I was told this is the pro pedal functioning. But it feels and sounds sloppy. After a dozen rides it' ... Read More »
