DT Swiss XR 180 Rear Shock

3/5 (2 Reviews)

Product Description

The XM suspension allows you to build a speedy racebike as well as a comfortable All-Mountain bike. Lower weight and increased stiffness are the traits that make the XM components so versatile. Long climbs are easily conquered with the fork locked and lowered and the shock locked, while all the plush travel makes the descent a joyride.

Strengths:    When it works ,it works ok as far as i can tell

Weaknesses:    Damping failed 4 times in 6 months

Bottom Line:
it seems that this Damper is not suitable for the Endorfin Vp4 frame, or i had a Monday morning product from Swiss
After 4 repairs i gave up on it ,and the Dt-Swis dealer gave me a SSD210L to use for a while to test it
This one had no problems ,so i agreed to leave it like this
Apparently newer isn't always better

Strengths:    by the way this picture and review are for an XM 180.....
Best dampening adjustability EVER...
Extremely light...
feels very plush...
very strong and stiff...

Weaknesses:    none...
has some disadvantages to a coil...
but the positives FAR outweigh the difference

Bottom Line:
awesome shock, very light, feels very plush and stiff at the same time, PERFECT DAMPENING

Dt Swiss rear shock: XR carbon or XM 180?

I wanna buy another Dt Swiss shock, I love so much the total lockout. I always lock the shock always when I go uphill, at the moment I use a M210 basic model, but I wanna replace it with the XR Carbon. In your opinion, is the XR Carbon too tricky/delicate to use for "all mountain" use? I ride ... Read More »
