Date Reviewed: June 18, 2008
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:LBS - Outdoor Advent
Strengths:By far the best damping of any shock.
Entire travel is usable.
Adjustable damping...
Similar Products Used:Fox (worst damping of all shocks)
Manitou - I've used every one they make
Bike Setup:Falling rate suspension
Bottom Line:Get the remote damping adjuster. It makes adjusting very simple.
I have used this shock in every type of circumstance.
Raced it to the top Expert position in 2 races this year. Has been flawless. With the flick of my thumb, it goes from completely plush to hardtail - the difference being that when I hit a bump it still absorbs very nicely even though out of the saddle efforts are squish free(you have to try it your self to believe it). Dialing in the remote adjuster takes a little time because it does not go the entire range of the shock. Nevertheless, its range is perfect.
When riding, I am constantly adjusting the damping to suit the situation for optimal efficiency. It is second nature for me - this took no time at all.
I had to use shims on one of the spacers as there was not an available size spacer that was close to my swingarm.
I would get one for my other bike, but they do not make a 216mm.
By far the smoothest most advanced damper on the market.
