Product Description

At the top of RockShox's totem pole reside the World Cup products. These components are the peak of SRAM's research and design efforts, featuring the latest race-proven technology and designs. The SID chassis has traditionally been reserved for 26-inch applications, but as the Reba gained mass to adapt to the longer travel, more aggressive 29er racers were requesting a lighter fork. RockShox answered the needs of XC race bikes running 29in wheels with the SID XX World Cup Dual Air 100mm travel 29in Fork with 15mm axle.A few ounces over 3lbs, the SID World Cup certainly is one of the lightest 29er forks available, but weight is only part of the equation that makes a fork race worthy. Essential to the 29er is stiffness. Longer fork legs combined with the higher leverage that a large wheel generates causes deflection during braking and steering. This equates to handling that is inconsistent and disruptive. RockShox solves the flex issue with an integrated carbon fiber tapered steerer and crown structure, thru-axle, and Power Bulges. The hollow, one-piece carbon fiber crown and tapered steerer is this World Cup SID chassis' secret to superior strength and stiffness, and it drops a lot of weight compared to its aluminum counterpart. The crown is bonded to low-friction, anodized 32mm aluminum upper tubes with sag gradients to assist in finding the perfect settings. Another detail that helps make this SID stiff are the PowerBulges around the lower bushings. These eliminate deformation of the cast-magnesium lowers, ensuring smooth action and less bushing and stanchion wear. Tying it all together is the 15mm Maxle Lite, an easy-to-use quick release thru-axle that boosts stiffness without adding any significant weight. The final elements to a race-ready fork are the damping and preload systems. For the SID XX World Cup, RockShox spec's its XX Motion Control Damper system -- the finest it offers. This system uses RockShox's Dual Flow technology, which features separate circuits for high- and low-speed compression as well as beginning- and ending-stroke rebound damping. This allows the fork to be sensitive to stutter bumps while soaking up bigger hits, so you're in control and comfortable at all times. The beginning-stroke rebound is user adjustable via an aluminum knob that's detented to hold it in pace. It's located at bottom of the right leg, and it contains a short 2.5mm hex key which serves to adjust the preload tension on the Maxle's lever throw. The rest of the damping is factory set to simplify setup and to ensure optimum performance out of the box. XX Motion Control includes the XLoc remote, which uses a hydraulically-actuated lockout and has an adjustable threshold control. The XLoc remote button is made from 6061-T6 aluminum and it comes pre-bled, so all you'll have to do is cinch the aluminum housing onto your handlebar with the included titanium hardware. You can install the XLoc with its own clamp, or it can become the top portion of a
