Strengths: great value, quality manufacturing and features, stiff, comparable weight to other 29er XC forks
simple set-up/adjustmentWeaknesses: rebound adjustment - hard to get a "slow" rebound - just fast and really fast - makes front end a little skittish - especially on slower sections, soft hairpin corners etc.
full travel - using Marzocchi's specs for air and oil levels, hard to get full travelBottom Line: I'm happy with the fork overall - thus, the rating. I'm certain that the weaknesses can be addressed with some research and tinkering which will bring the overall rating up to at least 4.
For its current application - race bike, mostly hard-pack/soft 15 - 20 mile rides - the fork delivers. The tapered steerer and through axle help are high-end features that really help with handling.
The rebound and travel issues are moot.
However, if I were to regularly use this bike on more technical trails, at slower pace and for longer rides, the rebound and travel challenges would be a problem.
I would recommend the fork since the weaknesses can be overcome.
