Strengths: Stiffness, precision, sweet balance between "big" forks and 32mm and weight, TALAS featureWeaknesses: TALAS valving, costBottom Line: I bought this when I built a Specialized "Expert" 29 (Brain shock) frame. It has 130mm rear travel and wanted something that would drop the front end to climb and then extend out a bit for the descents. Compared to the stock 130mm Revelation that came on the factory built bike this is a huge bonus. We have some relatively steep climbing in the SoCal area i live. They don't go on for long but get your attention, same goes for the drops. This fork (coupled with the dropper post) makes short work of most trails. Compared to the 120mm Fox i had on a Turner Sultan this thing is night and day as far as lateral stiffness, steering precision and plushness. I'm far from some expert rider, but i'm decent, been doing it a while and for the riding i do in the terrain I ride this fork does EXACTLY what i want. Enough to say if you are thinking about a new 650b consider a 34mm stanchion fork.
Yes, the TALAS valving is less plush and linear than a regular Float. BUT, it's alot better than it used to be. YES, the low speed compression is a bit more touchy than a regular Float. I've adapted, you can too.
