No matter what kind of material black magic engineers use to make air-suspended shocks less susceptible to friction, they'll never match the plushness and simplicity of a coil sprung fork. The 2013 Fox Van 36 180 RC2 FIT Fork sticks with the tried and true steel coil that not only requires less maintenance and effortless response to minute-trial imperfections, but it offers the spring curve that gravity junkies crave. The 180mm travel Van 36 180 relies on Fox's light and highly tunable RC2 FIT damper. It's a cartridge unit that uses an expandable bladder to seal suspension oil from air. This allows the damper to provide consistent action during heavy-duty use. It has separate, external, low- and high-speed compression tuning. This means you can dial the fork to offer a bob-reducing, or g-out-resisting platform with the low-speed adjustment. Or back it off for plusher, small-bump complaint ride, while the high-speed adjustment lets you find your preference for large hit resistance. This versatility lets you set the Float RC2 for optimum, aggressive trail performance. The 2013 Fox 36 Van 180 FIT RC2 Fork's lower legs and crown is powder coated in Black. It has a 1-1/8 to 1.5in tapered steerer tube and post mount disc brakes. The beefy 36mm chassis is stiff and strong, and made even better by the inclusion of a 20QR thru-axle system.
