Strengths:    stiff, plush, so far maintenance free, looks mean.

Weaknesses:    no tapered head tube in black stock

Bottom Line:
I love this fork. does exactly what its supposed to. I use it on a heavy duty all mountain bike. It's saved my ass many times landing a little squirrely on drops or picking a bad line on a downhill. 6 foot drops to flat feel bottomless. It would be sweet if they sold all combinations of colors and head tubes. I had to swap a headtube/stanchion assembly to get the combo I needed. That was a piece of cake though. I've yet to rebuild it after a whole season of 12 hours a week but it'll be easy when it comes time. I've seen it for $550 lately. It's a no brainer at that price.

Strengths:    Smooth
Zero flex
Damping

Weaknesses:    As a FR/DH fork it doesn't have any

Bottom Line:
I was looking for more fork than my Lyrik but didn't want to lose the reliability my Lyrik had shown for 2 years. The Totem fit the bill.

It's confidence inspiring and the Mission Control DH enables me to set it up as I like. The heavier weight spring in the box was a nice bonus.

Lyrik RC2 DH coil for Jumps & drops? Or stick with Totem?

Has anyone used a Lyrik RC2 DH 170mm coil for big jumps and drops. I'm currenly using a Totem coil tapered (mission control) which isn't very plush on DH but is sturdy and really dependable when landing jumps and drops (rider 80kg with firm spring). I can only have one bike (just got 2011 Volt ... Read More »

Keep my 09 Totem coil or get Lyrik DH coil? (or Van 36 RC2)

I ride a Bottlerocket with a beefy build, it's my only bike so has to be able to handle downhilling, jumps/Fr stuff and also XC loops. It currently weighs around 38 lbs  I built it up with tapered Totems for a Whi ... Read More »

2010 Totem Coil MiCo DH Oil levels?

I have broken open the above fork twice to change the lube oil. I rebuilt a friend's Totem solo air and was amazed at the difference changing the compression dampening oil made so I decided to change mine out. On the SRAMTECH youtube channel, the vid on MiCo rebuild states 137ml of oil for the Tot ... Read More »

2010 Totem Coil DH intial impressions

Finally got out on the new fork. It felt really tight and firm with the standard spring and I was a little worried that I might need to swap springs or that it would be really harsh until it broke in. NoahColorado suggested that I put some high quality oil in as the stock SRAM stuff is crap. I'm ... Read More »
