Weaknesses: not good below 20 degrees as the standard fork oil gets so thick the fork wont rebound. Change the oil and the fork is fine.
Bottom Line:
Good cheap fork. Very heavy but nearly bomb proof.

Strengths: price-for a cheap bike
Weaknesses: not working properly-leaks oil-bottoms very easily-not for serious rides-its standard on my scott aspect -i will change it very soon
Bottom Line:
not for cross country use-just for going for shopping
it is very god low end fork. Try to buy something better with that money. It does its job well.

Strengths: Does the job for what it was meant to do....ride trails, off-road and on pavement or dirt and provide you with some suspension on your front end.
Weaknesses: Not meant to be ridden hard in downhill or jumping, as it will bottom out.
Bottom Line:
It's a great fork for the casual rider who ventures off on some well traveled trails, paths, gravel roads or bumpy roads. Look at it for what it is and you will be fine. Not sure why everyone bashes it "because it came on my Giant or my Trek"...if that's the case, then why did you buy that bike in the first place? Most of the Giants and Treks, unless you spend some vast quantities on a high end bike, they are all made in China or Taiwan. All you are doing is paying for the name Giant or Trek decals on your bike, while it may have been designed in Waterloo, WI, the frame was welded by some Chinese guy.
So for the intended purpose of the fork, i.e. to ride casually, then it fits the bill nicely

Strengths: None, totally rubbish!
Weaknesses: Many. They simply dont function the way a suspension fork should!!!! In any condition these forks failed and failed again. LBS was a total arse about warranty and repairs, was thrown out with my bike in bits to the side walk!
Bottom Line:
Bottom line! dont buy, you`ll be better off buying a pair of rigid forks than these...

Strengths: I've been using this fork (the HLO version) for a bit more than 3 months now and the shock seems fine. It works well even on a more rough terrain. The Hidro Lock Out also works and it helps a lot with climbing. Also the fork requires very little maintenance and is very cheap to replace if it breaks. In fact a brand new XCM fork is cheaper than the standard annual inspection and servicing for most serious forks (like for example RS Recon).
Weaknesses: My XCM is supposed to have a 100mm travel but in reality it's more like 75mm. Also even though the fork works fine it doesn't feel as good as more expensive models (feels a bit like you are floating).
Bottom Line:
It's a solid fork for the money. I think it's quality wise comparable to the RS Dart 1/2 but at a lower price so it makes it a better option or the only option if you like in this price range. So far I'm happy with my XCM V2 and I'm not looking for an upgrade at this point. So if the fork comes with your bike I'd suggest to not replace it, just use it a while and when it's not cutting it anymore buy a better one. You won't get much if you sell it anyway.

Strengths: well it holds the front wheel to the bike which is an upside i guess
Weaknesses: adjusters do nothing, the fork tops and bottoms out from the lightest of riding, feels cheap, looks tacky and just isnt worth the time and effort to fix
Bottom Line:
as i said the fork holds the front wheel on which is all its good for. do not buy this fork as it is a pile of rubbish, it came stock on my giant stp2 which is meant for dirtjump/park riding yet i can bottom out these forks just by pushing down them and everytime i get air the fork compresses then the lowers shoot out topping out the fork, one day the lowers are gonna shoot off the bike i can feel it. ok to get the bike moving but thats it but do not buy this fork for any serious riding.

Strengths: when you hit bumps, the lower legs go up and down. when i steer, the effort goes thru the steer tube, down the crown, into the stanchions, to the lower legs, and redirects my wheel via the hub, thus steering me and my bike!! it connected the front wheel to my bike.
Weaknesses: flex, plastic cap blew off and the spring came out and about pinned me in the forehead, no adjustability, lockout made horrible noises. an entire INCH of travel.
Bottom Line:
ugly. i bought the bike used and the stanchions had scrapes on them and the evil genius seals where disintegrating before my eyes, and the bushings where more or less non existent, and i was going to replace them anyway. on the way home i did an stoppie off of a curb ramp and the spring said "SEE YA!!", and took off out of the fork. so i found the plastic cap, and the mean ol' spring, popped that sucker back in and wheelied home. upon arriving i made a very easy decision to change them for my bombers that i had as a spare for a bike that had been stolen from me. problem solved. no more demon forks please. suntour has made some killer things in the past, but this fork is not one of those things.

Strengths: Look nice, IS disc mounts to take up to an 180mm rotor.
Weaknesses: Very poor at soaking up smaller bumps, deals with bigger hits better. The adjusters have little to no effect on their behaviour. Doing a couple of small drops (less than a foot) causes the shocks to top out quite violently and upset the balance of bike and rider!
Bottom Line:
As with most of these, they are fine if you are buying them on a bike, but I would certainly not look to SR Suntour shocks for anything other than a daily commute where shock absorption is necessary. They do as they are told and look respectable, but actual off road performance is poor.

Strengths: Soaks up bumps well for a cheap fork.
Weaknesses: Rebound is very slow
Poor quality
Bottom Line:
Dont buy this. It came with my bike new but leaked oil right away. Then on my third or fourth ride out, the only adjustment lever (a flimsy plastic blue piece) vibrated completely off the fork leaving me no way to adjust it. So no matter how cheap it is, its accually worth less than zero to me now beacause I have no choice but to replace it.

Weaknesses: dirt gets in oil, adjusters are plastic and it doesnt feel like they do anything.
Bottom Line:
I want to replace this fork with something better but for riding it on roads i guess its fine. It would have been better if you can really adjust it but i tried and the adjusters dont do anything. I was riding it once and i hit something and one of the adjusters broke and hit me in the face.

Strengths: it looks better than most suntour efforts (i use that word loosely)
Weaknesses: another one of the piles of crap that haunts the sub 500 pound bikes.
Bottom Line:
I ride my bike daily to work had it pretty much from new came with these forks, and seems that the biggest let downs on the bike are both suntour (the cranks being the other offenders) I thought elastomer forks were consigned to the bin marked "complete junk" for good apparently not don't try hitting the trails in too cold weather you will break your arms similarly don't try a drop off in the searing heat otherwise you'll bottom out instantly. Flexy, leaked oil from new and heat affects them.....yet MBUK wisely said they're better than most forks on 400 pound bikes, except i had j4's on my 2006 mongoose tyax super which were proper forks with proper damping and proper adjustment, so not good value either.
If you have these change them out ASAP if you think these are okay try something else you won't look back they're just there to connect the wheel to the frame with no real purpose in mind. AVOID ! ! !
