Favorite Trail:crank it up
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $560.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:simple but effective adjustments (compression, rebound, preload), very rigid with no flex, very reliable
Weaknesses:main adjustments on the bottom of fork (and there plastic), very heavy, stantions and seals tend to "stick" a bit, really no need for two air preload valves
Similar Products Used:888 vf
Bike Setup:2006 big hit III
Bottom Line:Great fork for the money. Although this is a low end 888, it certainly doesnt perform low end. The adjustments work great (set it buttery smooth for downhill, or stiffen it up for freeriding), no problems with the internals. I really like the 8 inch post mount, no need for an adapter which is really nice. However this fork is pretty heavy, so dont buy if your a racer. it also tends to "stick" a bit during the beginning of a ride. Also, the adjustments are a pain to adjust cause there on the bottom, but thats how all RCV models are.
A great buy for the shuttled freerider, or anyone looking for a triple clamp fork for under $600

Favorite Trail:Sourland Mountain
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $700.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:adjustability, durability, rigidness(steering)
Weaknesses:Weight, right side oil leak
Bike Setup:Kona 'stab', '09 Marzocchi 888 RCV~direct mount stem, Fox 'Vanilla' RC coil (r) shock/ 400lb spring, '07 Mavic 'Dee Max' rims/hubs, TruVativ 'hussefelt' crank, Thomson 'elite' seatpost, Specialized 'phenom' saddle, Hayes 'Stroker Trail' w/ v8 rotors F+R, x-9 r.derailleur, e.thirteen bash guard, MRP 'party crasher' chain guide.
Bottom Line:Worth every penny. This is my first and only dual crown 200mm travel fork. It has a great feel. I've taken it through most things we crazy people are likely to throw at it, and it sucks up every last bit. I ride very rocky trails, and sometimes take drops over 10 ft., and this fork really manipulates under the rider and helps maintain superb control. The only problem thus far is a continuous slow oil leak from the right side housing near the compression adjustment knob. It has not yet affected the performance, and I hope it stays that way. The air preload adjustment is very low psi and sensitive. As long as the frame holds up, so will this fork. It'll be Marzocchi 888's and the cockroaches in the end...
