Strengths: - light weight
- stiff yet compliant
- dampens shocks/vibrations
- looks good
- price (for what I paid for it anyway)
- it's carbon (READ: sexy!)Weaknesses: - 160-mm rotor limit
- paint/finish scratches easily
- price (SRP)
- it's carbon (READ: catastrophic failure)Bottom Line: Unbelievably light weight fork that tracks excellently yet noticeably dampens small vibrations, especially compared to the aluminum fork it replaced.
I was hoping to eventually slap this on a Surly 1x1 I was planning on buying, but an unexpected turn in my financial situation prevented me from getting the frame. I'm thinking now I should've got the 445-mm A2C at the very least (a carbon copy [pun intended] Saso-branded one) so it would be a better fit to potential future frame purchases, most of which require around 440 to 455-mm A2Cs.
The value rating for the price I paid for it would be a 5, but actual SRP brings it down to 4 chilis.
I'm a bit afraid of how it will fare if I crash on it, but otherwise, this is a great fork for the XC rider/racer. The rotor limit detracts from a perfect score, so I'd actually give it 4.5 chilis (but I've rounded it up anyway).
