Date Reviewed: October 19, 2009
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $100.00
Purchased At:off craigslist
Strengths:lockout, travel, strong
Weaknesses:none yet, i will repost if any occur
Similar Products Used:rs sid xc, rs judy sl,
Bike Setup:mix of xc and downhill
Bottom Line:so far so good. bought them of a guy who did an instant upgrade to his bike so they were in new condition. reading these reviews may have put me off, but i own 2 bikes now and the judys were about done on the rockhopper, so for a $100 i couldn't go wrong. if they do leak or fall apart i will repost, but so far i'm sold on them. heavier than my sids, but then most other forks are.

Favorite Trail:Art Sharp aka The Flow
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:Nashbar
Strengths:Stiff, lockout, u-turn, 100-130mm
Weaknesses:Heavy (~5 lbs).
Similar Products Used:Fox R90 RL, RS Sid XC hydracoil, RS DUKE XC
Bike Setup:Was going to replace SID XC on FS Diamond back
Bottom Line:I am not installing this fork! It arrived covered in oil and after ready the multiple bad reviews about it leaking oil, I'm not even going to mess with it! I'm surprised RS hasn't pulled this fork and is allowing it to still be sold.

Bike Setup:Jamis Dakota sport stock bike.
Bottom Line:Avoid Rock Shox Tora 302. Spend your money on a better fork!

Date Reviewed: July 4, 2009
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Black color matched the black of my 08 fisher tassajara
Weaknesses:can't hold oil for anything. just another similar story, leaking oil out of the rebound adjuster. I thought it was just a bad crush washer. tore it all apart, replaced o-rings and washers with the service kit. put back together and filled with oil - and it starts leaking again. must be coming down through the rebound damper. goodbye fork, goodbye rockshox.
Similar Products Used:looking for a good replacment from another company
Bottom Line:product weaknesses say it all. it was fine until it lost the oil - I thought maybe the garage it sat in over winter got too cold (only reasoning I could come up with) until I saw the other reviews on mtbr. now I know it's just a pizz poor product.

even if it was free, I'd still give it 1 chili cause really it's just a worthless pile that made me waste money on service parts, oil and a bunch of paper towels from sopping up all the lost oil.

Date Reviewed: June 8, 2009
Favorite Trail:Several
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:Local Shop
Strengths:Stiffer than my old Psylo SL due to 32mm legs and bigger crown. Good range of travel adjust (85mm-130mm) you will love it on steep climbs, effective lockout (I have no poploc on the bars) and decent rebound adjust. It offers a wide range of configurations in order to prepare your next attack to your favorite trail.
Weaknesses:A little bit heavy, noisy during the first rides, you can even hear the U-Turn spring working.
Similar Products Used:My loved old Psylo SL, Manitou 2 and Fox forks.
Bike Setup:Same as purchased.
Bottom Line:I bought this fork without reading the whole claims you find here, but even after this short period of time, I have realized the fork works fine and the noises are less than before.

Certainly I put lots of kilometers on it (150Km in two weeks) and I think this helps the fork to adjust internally in order to work better.

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:lbs
Strengths:ehhh..none; price?
Weaknesses:Everything: flexy, heavy, leaks oil, doesn't really do anything ..its almost a rigid fork
Similar Products Used:Fox Float 100R
Mazzocchi ?? Z3
Pace RC36
Manitou 3
RS Judy SL
Bike Setup:stock Spesh rockhopper (rest of bike is great by the way)
Bottom Line:By far and away and without a shadow of a doubt the worst forks I have ever owned.. In terms of performance they don't even match up to Manitou 3's that I owned some 15 yrs ago..ok they had v little 'rubber' travel but at least they smoothly went up and down, the stiction on the puppies is terrible. I have emailed uk to see if they can recommend anything to improve, but no response.

Furthermore, they started to leak oil after a couple of months, fixed under warranty, but following posts here im fully expecting it to happen again.

Ok these are much cheaper than most of the forks I have owned (these are on my 2nd 'hack' bike) but they are all but useless...complete pap, thats it. I can't honestly recommend them to anyone, im sure there are better forks out there for less money.

Favorite Trail:south mtn
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $210.00
Purchased At:Jenson.com
Strengths:easy to install
Weaknesses:The adjustable travel initially looked impressive, but turned out to be a gimmick. That was just before it started to leak oil (in less than 3 months)... yes, lots oil all the time. I seemed to be constantly dabbing it with a tissue thinking to myself what an idiot I was to buy it.
Bike Setup:K2 came with a crappy Suntour fork that I wanted to "upgrade", is why I bought the Rock Shox. Big mistake. Should have stuck with the crappy Suntour.
Bottom Line:I came into some dough and bought a Jamis XCR Expert. Fox front and back. Nice, what a difference. A riding buddy has a Rip 9 with Rock Shox Reba upfront. Less than a year old and he's been complaining about it leaking oil too and not holding air. Maybe just coincidence, but when you're spending that type of cash, you just expect so much more.

Weaknesses:Absolute rubbish ! Leaking oil. Loose its stiffness......
Bike Setup:Schwinn Moab Disc 2007
Bottom Line:Already returned the shock for repairs twice. The last time retuned from repairs the shock is worse, the rebound settings (slow or fast) is removed! with oil leaking from the lockout at the top.
Why don't SRAM just acknowledge they have a reject product and replace all faulty shox ! Instead I suffer, because my bike is more in for repairs.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:epic cycles
Strengths:fair travel for a X-country fork & its fairly cheap in this country. Nothing else bad has happened yet......except in my weakness column
Weaknesses:Leaks oil from rebound adjuster - have sent this in to my LBS so that they can fix it seeing as though i bought it 2 days ago & havent even ridden the bike yet - It was meant as an upgrade to my bike - feels downgrded in a serious way to me from the rubbish spinner grind fork - they even worked better & thats the stock crap that came on the bike
Similar Products Used:spinner Grind OS
Bike Setup:mongoose tyax elite '06, XT rear, disks front & rear & couple of other upgrades
Bottom Line:Dont buy this fork unless you want endless headaches oh.... & of course oil pissing out everywhere from the rebound adjuster. SRAM your products are kak to say the least. This is the 1st pair of RS ive ever bought & will definately be my last. You will never get another cent from me & youre a useless company - where are your contact details (cowards it would seem cause they make such an inferior product).ill give it 5 for value cause it looks good from the outside & thats how they con you in to buying this piece of rubbish but overall you get dog .......so SRAM whats that telling you. You are POOOOOOR

Strengths:Felt good at first (60-70 trail miles). Look solid.
Weaknesses:Leaking oil (bad), lockout worked for a little while. Basically they are sold as a xcountry fork, so if you ride aggresive or intend to ride alot of rock gardens or rooty trails then stay away. Wouldnt trust these on anything over 3' unless a perfect transition.
Similar Products Used:SIDs, XC 600.

i cant trust these forks or Rock Shox anymore. - im going to buy a pair of Fox's.

Date Reviewed: October 1, 2008
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:LBS
Weaknesses:I've ridden this fork less than 10 times, mostly short rides (<10 miles), and it's leaking from the rebound adjuster. The cap comes off really easily, but fortunately I haven't lost it.
Bottom Line:Is it too much to ask to make an oil cap that screws on, rather than just sliding on without threads? This is probably the least expensive piece of this fork, but once it's gone the fork is useless.

Bottom Line:I work in a bike shop and have the story posted under the Diamondback Mission 1 as a review. Ive had two of these bikes come in with the boxs soaked in oil. I had another one from the year before that started as the lockout not working and then became an oil leak. After we shipped the fork off for a overhaul, it came back not leaking but it still doesnt lock out. The two new ones are intransit right now so we will see what happens. I worries me because I have one on my Fuji Tahoe 29er Pro. Ive seen three bad forks but havent had problems with mine yet.

Date Reviewed: August 16, 2008
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Geard Cycles
Strengths:Good strong fork (takes a bashing and works perfectly), good travel, smooth, good adjustment, pretty good lockout (Poploc).
Weaknesses:Rebound adjust changes virtually nothing, gets a bit noisy (kind of whooshing air sound), and a bit stiffer after a few months use.
Bike Setup:Giant Yukon SX '08, Giant Alias '09
Bottom Line:Pretty good, resiliant fork, excellent for XC and some jumping, good travel and good Preload (I have the coil version). Gets bashed around alot by me and still holds up really well. Gets a little noisy which can be annoying but it feels so good that you hardly notice it anyway. Stanchions are a decent diameter (32mm I think), so not likely to break. Altogether, Good for Entry level Cross Country racing, or just the odd trail or bump along your ride.

Also note, for a price any bike servicer should be able to internally adjust the fork to have about 130mm of Travel (usually it is at 100mm).

Strengths:None
Weaknesses:Oil leak right away, Bad DF, Poor adjustability
Similar Products Used:Fox
Bike Setup:STD
Bottom Line:Do not buy TORA-302!
Worst fork.

Oil leaking sooooooooooo bad. Current forks are my 3RD FORKS.

-1st one, Comes with my brand new Jamis bike.
It was leaking bad before ride. (Replace whole bike, it took while)

-2nd one, Brand new bike came, Ride ONLY one time and start leak from rebound adjuster and lost adjuster knob. (Fork assy free replacement, warranty, takes while to processing)

-3rd one, Ride 10 times start to leaking from rebound adjuster and lost adjuster knob.

I do not want to call and deal those guys anymore!
it takes time to replace, I can not ride till comes another one.

performance is also sooooo poor, VERY harsh no smoothness.
Lack of adjustability.

I can not trust Rockshox anymore.

WORST FORK.
