Strengths:    Durable, light, stiff, plush, easy to set up and very good finish.

Weaknesses:    A little complicated to service, not as easy to find spareparts as RS. Could be just a tad more progressive maybe..(they fixed this on 09 models i think)

Bottom Line:
Best allroundfork so far, i like the damping better than on the lyrik although havent tried the RS coilversion..

Strengths:    Plush and stout handling.
weight
Clean look(looks even better without the stickers)
simplicity
reliability

Weaknesses:    No comment

Bottom Line:
It is a hair over 5 pounds, floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee. Rides smoother than Al Green can sing, and is as simple as a glass of water. If you want an all day, long travel single crown, get the 36 Van R. It is definitely worth the bank. Comes with heavier springs too. Reliability Reliability Reliability!

Strengths:    So easy to set up, so light yet so stiff and strong! My front end doesn't flex when I swing the bike, also it handle nasty ground easily.

Weaknesses:    None whatsoever.

Bottom Line:
Fox is always makes the best suspension money can buy. My first Fox fork is 2005 32 Talas 130 RLC, fitted on Commencal VIP Supernormal, and it's still deliver its job perfectly. I'm sure my 36 Van will do the same. It's perfect for folks who need a lightweight & heavy duty fork which easy to operate and without a premium price. Just ride and hit anything and no worries about the fork!

Date Reviewed: October 13, 2007

Strengths:    Lightweight, Incredibly Stiff, Awesome QR 20mm, Top Quality Finish, Plush from the box, usual expert backup from Fox

Weaknesses:    None as yet

Bottom Line:
You get what you pay for, awesome strength to weight ratio. With the new QR 20mm this fork has stepped up to the top. Simple to dial in and so far they have wanted more and more and not come up short. They look so fly - Bye Bye Rockshox and Marzocchi - Fox are back on top !!!

Fox 36 Van R Issue

I bought a used bike with this fork. Took it out for its first long ride, and when I got home I noticed some grease had seeped out of the pre-load knob on the spring side of the fork. When I take it out in front of the house and compress the fork a few times I am getting a hissing sound. Is this ... Read More »
