Favorite Trail:Anything technical and fast!
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $750.00
Purchased At:Newberg Bicycle Shop
Strengths:Excellent fork for cross country and all mountain riding. Works as advertised, once setup correctly, it's just plain "automatic". Forget about it. It'll do it's thing, and you'll go much faster and be much more confident.
Weaknesses:I have a 2004 model F100X. The first bump is a little harder than subsequent bumps - but that's the way the thing works. I like a stiff suspension, so this doesn't bother me. It's not terribly bad, but it is mildly noticeable.
Similar Products Used:Rock Shoxx
Bike Setup:2004 Specialized S-Works Epic, Fox F100X Terralogic fork, SRAM X.0 all around, thompson set-back seat post, Chris King Hubs, Dave's SpeedDream wheelset.
Bottom Line:Unbelievably great product. It *is* pricey - but I've been running this fork for over 5 years now. I'm mostly a cross country racer, but I'm a big guy, at 6'3" and 225 lbs. I've pounded this fork in some seriously tough all day downhill bashing festivals, and it just keeps on ticking away. You can scream into a babies-head-sized boulder field, and know you can pound through at full speed. But then you hit that uphill section, and the fork stiffens up, and you don't lose any wasted effort to Bob (damn Bob!).

It does take some time to get your air pressure and other settings just right for your riding style and trail conditions, but once it's dialed in it's great.

I have *easily* over 10,000 miles on this fork. I've had it rebuild once due to seals leaking, but that's it. Other than that it's been bomber.

I WILL NEVER AGAIN RIDE ANOTHER MOUNTAIN BIKE WITHOUT THIS KIND OF TECHNOLOGY !!!!! It's a shame Fox dropped this because of the pressure Specialized put on them, once Specialized went with their own fork for the S-Works line.

Strengths:Super stiff and flawless performance
Weaknesses:None!
Similar Products Used:SID, REBA
Bike Setup:Trek 9.8 hardtail, XT (08), Spinergy Xyclone Disc, Ritchey WCS carbon
Bottom Line:If you're into hardcore technical single trial with some not too big jumps and drop offs (2-3 foot) and at the same time love to climb the hills, then this is the fork you're searching for.

The performance is second to none and I am totally amazed how this fork just made my biking so much better. We have this section in our area that we named "path of hell" which is hardcore technical and the fork just did all of it's work 100% perfect!!!

It's amazing how the fork work and it's as if it allready knows the trail before you ride it! Not even one time did I feel the fork didn't perform as it should. It was always ready and took all and every bump perfect, even jumps felt super plush (didn't feel the opening of the valve)! And when climbing serious uphill, the fork was just perfectly firm. No bobbing at all, just pure forward motion!

Another thing that I learned from riding the F100X is that it's not only when riding uphill you feel the strength of the fork, it's also when braking, cornering and espicially riding steep technical trails the fork really shows its worth. The thing that fork doesn't compres to steep angles on descents is a big plus to stability. I especially remember a section on the "path of hell" where I thought "damn, how do I get past this steep section with nasty roots and big holes", but then I just fired away and the F100X took it all nice and easy. It all felt perfectly stable and I have gained so much confidence with my bike after mounting the F100X!!!

Some reviewers write that they feel the unlock of the fork as a little snap. To that I must say, go home and go through the steps of setting up the fork again (adjust air pressure, rebound and bump threshold). It's impossible to feel the snap while riding on the trails. As mentioned before - not one single time did F100X fail me on the "path of hell".

Yes, if you do a test on hard asphalt for that purpose alone, feeling the unlock, then you can feel a very little snap on the first bump. But you really have to be focused on just that and nothing else. If it matters to you, then I would say that the first bump is covered with AT LEAST 90% from the fork. But then again - take it to the trail and forget it's there, because that's what will happen.

For me there's no doubt, this THE FORK! My F100X will stay on my bike until I die and should it happen that I'm forced to buy a new fork one day, then I would definetly go for another F100X.

Superb product with amazing performance. GO FOR IT NOW!

Strengths:No bobbing, works as advertised
Weaknesses:As mentioned by previous poster, unable to pre-load the fork when going over obstacles. No so much a weakness as a trade-off. Expensive
Bike Setup:Litespeed Pisgah refitted with disk brakes, tubeless wheels and a Cane Creek Thudbuster 1.3" seatpost
Bottom Line:Love how this fork feels on this bike. Very fast, no bobbing when hammering up hills and yet very plush. I mostly use this bike for hilly training rides in the city that are under 2 hours and the combo Terralogic, Thudbuster ST and tubeless tires make for a very efficient and plush enough ride.

Bottom Line:took awhile to setup, but now I can get out of the seat w/o bobbing and it immediately absorbs rocks, roots, etc. as needed. Worth the money IF you have the spare change.

Bike Setup:Kona the King, 4" cross country frame
Bottom Line:This fork works great, no problems. Had it on both my Titus Racer X frame, and Kona the King frame. Fork was excellent on both. Not as plush as an Float RLC, but a lot stiffer when peddling hard. Not the greatest for out of the saddle attacks, but okay. I heard Fox dropped this modal because racers wanted the lock-out. I think Fox should just ahve added a lock-out to this model.

Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Best hands free lockout ever (TerraLogic) plenty plush yet does not bob when pedaling.
Weaknesses:I've had 2 generations of these forks. The pre '07 forks of mine (F80 & F100) both seeped oil on the right leg, pretty common it seems. This looks to have been cured in the '07's as my latest (07 model) one is oil seep free.
Similar Products Used:Pretty much all the brands in an XC fork, back the the Judy
Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Blur, Ventana Fuego, Inglis Single Speed - all have been converted to either F100X's or F80x's.
Bottom Line:Excellent XC fork for racing or just cruzin, the best I've had. Best combination of plushness with no bob.

Price Paid: $650.00

Strengths:This is truly "just-in-time" suspension. No bobbing on climbing, completely releases and becomes fully active just when you need it. I don't like touching dials, lockouts, levers etc. when I'm riding...just set it and forget it, and it works. And it's stiff and plush as you would expect an F100 to be. I use it for all-around XC trail riding on everything...buff singletrack, rock gardens, roots/ruts, techical climbs, 2 foot logs and drops, long fireroad climbs...whatever.
Weaknesses:Cost?
Bike Setup:2007 Racer X hovering around 25lbs depending on tires.
Bottom Line:Not sure what the point is of messing with a lockout when you can set it and forget it. Never felt a "delay" on this pup and I use it for general trail duty and throw everything at it. Noticed Fox isn't providing the "X" Terralogic on its 2008 lineup...heard Specialized owns the patent from the Brain technology specially built for them, and Fox doesn't want to pay Specialized for it. Serious bummer, but glad I scored on this thing before they took it away! This is a great fork for a skilled XC trailrider who can handle a hardtail but prefers a little extra cush from a few inches of front and rear travel...also good for XC racers who also enjoy general trail duty and don't like to fidget with lockouts.

Favorite Trail:Cleburne SP
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Fork is stiff, tracks well, fairly plush after inital hit. No problems with bushing or seals so far. Excellent on out of the saddle sprints. A great cross country race fork except that it's a bit heavy.
Weaknesses:You can fill a slight edge on the first bump before the fork open up. This is a given but..you can't preload the shock for technical manuvers, bunny hops, etc.
Similar Products Used:Fox RLC, SID, R7
Bike Setup:Titus Racer X, XTR, juicy ulitmate brakes, SLR's
Bottom Line:Overall, the shock does what it's supposed to do. It doesn't bob unless you hit a bump that causes to open it up. That makes it very efficent and great for out of the saddle sprints. The downside to that is that you can't preload the shock to lift the front fork over obstacles....something I've found that I miss for everyday trail riding. Another downside is (at least in my shock) is that there is a very slight delay between the time the fork intially hits a bump and when it opens up. Probably not an issue in most cases but if you were suddenly going from something very smooth to something very techical or took a big hit, that inital bump could potentially cause problems. It's made me nervous in a couple of situations because of this.

This would be a great fork for a cross country racer that doesn't race technical trails...except the fork is a bit heavy compared to some of the other xc race forks. As for me, I'll be going back to a RLC/T. I find that a I like being able to preload my fork and don't like the slight delay before the fork opens all the way. Not saying this is a bad fork..just not the right fork for me.

Strengths:This is an updated review after having more then 6000km on this fork.
Everything working superb, no leaks, no delay on working on bumps
Bottom Line:I`m writing this review to update my experience on the fork and because I saw some reviews talking about this product that I can`T understand.

I´ve made more them 6000km since my last review and I only can say that the fork is superb.
I saw a comment from one user talking about a 2 year experience with the 2007 model ???? ( the 2007 fork only has some 8 to 9 months on the market) delay on the first bump? we can`t be talking about the same product... I make every week at least 100km of very hard XC riding with some 100km marathons in the middle and I can say that the fork DOESN`T HAS ANY DELAY ON THE FIRST BUMP. otherwise I had already killed myself on some very technical and fast downhils that our races have here.
Also no leakege problems.
... and I don`t work for fox.... I`m very critical about bad products, but we must be honest with the 2007 FORK F100X MODEL its superb... go for it!!!

Bottom Line:I have run Fox floats for 5 years now and they have been great.I wanted the Anthem not to bob when I have to stand up and hammer on the hills or sprints. This fork is amazing.I can't beleive how much faster I can accelerate becouse the fork does not compress when I am pushing down on it yet it absorbs the bumps.Fox seems to have this fork as dialed in as possible .I have not tried the other stable platform shocks but I don't think they could be any better.

Weaknesses:after about 3 months of only cross country(no free or downhill)the fork keeps shaving the aluminum cartridge inside and filling the fork oil with the shavings and leaking oil past the seals and pouring down the fork leg in excessive amounts. I have talked then argued with Fox about these problems multiple times. I have sent it back twice for extended periods of time for repair. I feel for $775 a person should get a product and warrenty that does not make you go months at a time out of the riding season with out a fork. I am very unhappy with the purchase of this fork and Fox!

Favorite Trail:Tyler State Park
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $650.00
Purchased At:e-bay
Strengths:Lock-out work perfect. No pedal bob. Stiff, light weight, and good looking. Shock can be rebuilt and serviced by most guys (and gals). Once the fork opens up, you're good. It is a smooth quick rebounding shock that doesn't load-up even when the rebound setting is at the very slowest.
Weaknesses:Even when the sensitivity is set so that the slightest "bump" with release the lock-up, the first "bump" you hit - you will feel. There is a slight hit and then your fine. The only issue is when you're riding a flat trail and there is one root or rock and it goes back to flat. The fork is going to be pretty stiff for that first hit, open and then immediately go back to lock-up. So, depending on the rate of your "bumps" you could be feeling quite a few them. Rebound rate seems a bit too fast unless you dial it all the way over to the slowest setting.
Unrelated to the fork performance is Fox's product support and customer service. Without going into the whole story, I would give them B-. Maybe a C+. Some of the reps are knowledgeable and some are not.
Similar Products Used:Rock Shox, Other Fox.
Bike Setup:Aluminum fully suspended frame. Fox RP23 rear shock. Mavic, Chris King, etc, The bike is new.
Bottom Line:I'm not 100% sold on Fox's X type fork. Maybe I need to fiddle with it a little longer. I will try different combinations of air pressure, rebound rate, and bump threshold but at first blush I'd say I would rather have a manual lock-out or none. However, once the suspension is open, you're ready to fly. Fast and accurate without any springy backlash.
