Radically departing from their big huck films of the past, Thor Wixom and Phil Edlefsen have broken new ground by capturing the essence of pure technical riding skill in this latest installment of the DOWN series. With their unique style of camera work and innovative editing, Thor and Phil have created their most dynamic film to date.

Strengths: Great video full of street riding by people like russ morell, Julian Munier, and "v-dub". Urban and natural trials, by "v-dub"and mikey mayhem, and u.s trials champ shaun miller.smooth freeriding by the likes of "krispy", Ryan Gibb, Vic Marlow, and some fast technical dh trails with "krispy", vic, and the canfield bro's.You see all the riding places like utah, france, scotland too.
Weaknesses: Need more freerideing, where's Bender, more dh trails.
Bottom Line:
Good film full of action and bonus features, needs Bender, needs more dh trail riding, needs to come with a free KARPIEL!

Strengths: . . . *crickets* . . .
Weaknesses: Lots of urban trials riding (I find trials riding boring). Thrash music + extreme sports = played out. Locations not called out.
Bottom Line:
After happily buying/watching Down+Double Down DVD I was stoked on Thor and his style of filming/producing. I was so looking forward to 3rd Down but unfourtunately, Thor has departed from his winning ways.
Down is about 20% Trials 80% Mountain, Double is 30% Trials 70% Mountain, Third is 15 minutes urban trials, 10 minutes mountain trials, and maybe 7 minutes downhill mountain biking. My first reaction at the end was, "Boooo! 32 minutes? What a rip off!"
The music is also a departure from the first two where Thor actually produced some great tunes for the films. Now it's wanna be MTV/Blue Torch, same old same old. Had to pop my own cd in halfway through.
This gets one chili as it's worth watching ONCE. If you're a fan of Thor's, you will probably be dissapointed, if you are a fan of trials riding you may be content, so maybe three chilis for the trials fans who dig thrash music. For value I am sooo glad I rented it through netflix, if I'd spent even $3 on this I would have felt ripped off.
Similar Products Used: Down :), Double Down :), Red Bull Ride 2, Ride the Lightning, etc.
Bike Setup: 2002 XL Gemini 1000 stock (anyone want to sell me a BLUE Dorado?)

Strengths: Great editing, music, really good flow and crazier than hell.
Weaknesses: Maybe when the riders fell but that was still awesome
Bottom Line:
Awesome to show off to your friends and my family still thinks I'm crazy to even dream of doing any of it. Only buy this movie if you are ready for some killer riding!!
Strengths: Sorry Thor cant really think of any but JIB was one of the best videos i have ever seen.
Weaknesses: Really dry. Thor i dont understand how you can go from one extreme to the other. Un-oiriginal no excetionally big stuff and nothing that sticks out in my mind.
Bottom Line:
if you are looking for freeride, which this is, then try kranked 4 or if your into trials stuff try Thors other video JIB which is really exceptional.
Strengths: Good mix of trials, and urban with some fairly good freeriding.
Weaknesses: No real big-time riders
Bottom Line:
If you are into trials and urban, this is a great movie (that's why I bought it). If you are looking for guys droping 50 ft, look elsewhere. The music is good, and the footage is pretty good.

Strengths: Good music and some nice downhill shots.
Weaknesses: Had way way to much trials. If you like trials then go and buy this tape but if you are looking for a good trails and freeridng it needs more.
Bottom Line:
Don't by this video if you don't want to see a video of trials bikes and the stunts are cool with decent music but I was looking for a video with trails and freeriding.

Strengths: insane stunts and grweat music
Weaknesses: It was not as good as it could have been. I think it needed more big drops or maybe I have gotten used to the big drops through the other two films
Bottom Line:
This is a great video but the format seems to be getting a bit tired. I would reccommend the new chain smoke video over this one. I got to make clear I enjoyed this DVD, it is not a stinker by any means.
There is a song that i want to download at the start of third down, it might be from Jib. It is at the start of the film where there is a rider doing crazy trials. Hops onto a wall Read More »
