Has some humor--- hard to explain, but there | | Weaknesses: | Maybe some more XC, but xc isn't that excititng, and its a Fox video, so... can't blame 'em Outright product placement- everyones wearing fox all the time. | | Bottom Line: | Pumps you up- the soundtracks good, the footage is good, it makes you wanna ride and hammer it. from Leigh Creek, SA, Australia Date Reviewed: February 14, 2001 | | Favorite Trail: | Arkaroola Ridgetop | | Duration Product Used: | Tested or demo'ed only | | Purchased At: | Don't Remember, Don't Care | | Strengths: | Good introduction to mountain biking for the unititiated. Get to see some of the self proclaimed stars of Mountain Biking, several has beens and a few wannabees - and then there are the genuine articles like Cadel Evans (cameo). Palmer is ok. He is into CART open wheel racing (formerly known as IndyCar) and seems genuinely enthused by near death speeds. Too bad it doesn't become known in the interview.
Sound track suits the video, makes you want to get your bike and ride off a cliff. Coverage of some of the girls like Missy is fantastic. She can teach a few blokes a lesson or two - BTW, I am a bloke.
They did not overdo the crash fest thing but you just have to laugh at that poor wanker that took a spill coming down a hill. That was the best thing about the film - he totalled his bike with the rim facing one way and the handle bars the other way. The dumb-ass/dead pan look on his face had me laughing for hours. | | Weaknesses: | Too many sequences with BMX bikes. Sorry, but I am a purist and BMXs are NOT Mountain Bikes. Save the BMX takes for a kiddy movie.
The downhill takes are too short and the camera doesn't capture the speed or elevation too well.
Would have liked to see some aspects of cross country racing because this is what mostly pulls people into mountain biking. The stunts were excellent but the film did not show a good balance of XC/DH sequences when compared to stunts.
Too short, did Troy run out of film? | | Bike Setup: | Who cares? | | Bottom Line: | Very intense, the Vegas section does suck, did not care for BMX bullcrap, not enough downhill coverage - needed multiple cameras (but I guess there was no Hollywood budget here), needed more competition cross country. Cadel is THE legend of the film.
The whole thing was an endorsement exercise. Too many image conscious wannabe's who have absolutely nothing to contribute. Sorry if it hurts folks but I call it like I see it.
But it is entertaining and as I said earlier, will make you find the nearest cliff to jump, just to get the music out of your head. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Mind you what Mr. Bungles said was pretty stupid. In truth I found the vid to be very boring - I am not blown away by seeing the big stars ride and could care less about some silly interviews with them.
