Strengths: Comprehensive
Excellent maps and narrativeWeaknesses: Too big to go with you
Not waterproofBottom Line: Superb guide to biking on the eastern slopes of Alberta & the BC Rockies. Covers out of the way areas like Grande Cache. Trail summaries give a very good description of what to expect, like the author has actually rode them.
This book is now in its third edition, I believe. I own the original edition authored by Gerhard Lepp. Funny to see how the difficulty ratings for trails have dropped in more recent editions, reflecting the advances in bikes and rider skills.

Strengths:
Great format - lots of information that is quicka and easy to access.
Covers a lot of placesWeaknesses:
Pictures are of knobby old dudes with caliper brakes and one piece handlebar-stem-thingys and some of them even have paniers...Bottom Line: essential for non-residents wanting to go biking to this region.
