Strengths:    gets good dry road grip.

Weaknesses:    Makes alot of road noise, cornering at med/high speeds is quite the ordeal, the tires feel like they are going to shred apart, wet traction could be alot better,

Bottom Line:
an alright tire. If you have these tires, do yourself a favour, go and spinout/skid with them and by a different tire. it's good, but not nearly as good as many others out there.

Strengths:    Durable, quiet on pavement. All black sidewalls are back in style, too.

Weaknesses:    People think it should be in the Hall of Shame. It shouldn't. It does what it is _supposed_ to do just fine.

Bottom Line:
Original equipment. Great all around tire; rode east Bay fire roads for 3+ years on Connections, riding to/from trailhead. Riding a mixed tread tire on dirt makes you a smarter rider. No complaints.

When the tire is used for it's intended purpose, it is a durable, well made product. They are definately NOT a gonzo break neck tire. If you look at the bikes that connections come standard on it is pretty obvious, Trek 800 sport, 800, 820, 830. These are designed as a comuter, ocassional trail tire for the person who rides for recreation, someone who might take a bike off road only a few times a year. They came standard on my wife's 800, the bike is now 2 yrs old and the tires are still in great shape. In the same amount of time, and miles, I've been through 2 sets of tires. We ride the same places, just different riding styles. For what they were designed for, these are great tires. Foru chilies, and a big nod.

These tires came on my wife's Trek 800. The first thing I did was swap them for something better. They would be OK for pavement (but not as good as slicks) or a cycle-path. They are heavy but weak, collect mud like there's going to be a shortage, provide little comfort, and for serious off-road would be lethal.

I got these when I got an 800 sport, one of my first decent off road bikes. In the first week I had washed out the front tire like 5 times. I kept hittint patches of sand in the road and it kept slipping. I changed to some tiogas and never had that problem again. If you do comuting the get these tires, but if you do some of roading of any kind, dont get theses! I give them one flaming banana, no negatives cause they are still good for something.

Connectons are a good multipurpose tire. They work if you ride on pavement a lot 'cause they have that continuous tread running down the center. They are not good for off road climbing. They last a long time. I still have a connection on my commuter bike that is five years old. For that reason, this tire gets a 4.

I think these tires are great. They give you good traction on about any surface, and are very durable. I have had mine for 2 years, and ride everyday, and they are still in great condition. I think they are nice tires.

The Trek connection tires do a fine job for what they're intended, which is as a multi-purpose tire.If you want to ride hard upgrade to velociraptors or continentals. You don't take a pinto to the drag strip, same goes here.

Hall of Shame my ass. These tires rule. At of my tire collection, they are the only ones that have enough meat left to put back on the bike sometimes even though they are the oldest set of tires. Sure, that hard rubber does weigh a lot, and doesn't give the best traction (i've slid these babies out in a turn before and did give me 5 stitches but a nice scar) but it lasts damn long. Also, they never flat. I've run through untold amounts of biars with these things and ride on to tell. Not so with my 2 week lasting soft compound pinch flatting $80 a set tires. I not saying go and race them though, they're not made for that. But now that i finally burned them out skidding three years later (no, i don't skid $80 tires so it ain't my riding abuse that wears them out) i use them as road slicks. They just keep giving.

Bottom Line:

These tires are pretty good for what they are intended for: bike path
riding and light duty off-road use, that is why they are specd on low
end bikes like the Trek 800. They are tough and they don't wear out.
You've got problems if you are a serious downhiller and you purchase
these tires for racing or something. These tires suck off road, but
but they are great for what they are intended for.

These suck so bad that I skid with them purposely and happily. Now almost bald, I intend to stud them with screws. The only reason they are cool is cause they last long due to extremely cheap, non-supple, brick stiff, crappy *ss, rubber. Not to mention they are heavy.

These tires even suck on pavement. They slide easily when cornering, especially in the rear.
