Submitted by hmann a Weekend Warrior from Austin, TX, USA
Date Reviewed: May 20, 2003
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Purchased At:Discovery Cycle
Strengths:cornering, sidewalls acceptable
Weaknesses:punctures easily, strange footprint for a slick/semi-slick.
Similar Products Used:IRC Mythos Slick
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Mamba (2000), stock dressing/parts
Bottom Line:My wife asked for a street tire on her new bike at the LBC, so they switched out the Chameleons which came with 2000 Fisher entry levels for these things. Lower rolling resistance, sure, but she rides the thing very sparingly on city streets and I'm patching tubes right and left. The rubber is impervious to NOTHING. Too slow to be a slick, to weak to be a semi-slick.

Buy the Mythos Slick if you are looking for something like this. Better tread pattern, tougher tire. I'd be very reluctant to buy Kenda after this experience.

Favorite Trail:St. Louis Heights
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Knobby sides
Weaknesses:Not-so-slick center region
Similar Products Used:Continental Goliath
Bike Setup:Cannondale F500
Bottom Line:The Bottom Line is that the Kenda Krisp tires are QUASI semi-slick tires. The part that is supposed to be "slick" is not necessarily so and the tire is also wide for a semi slick tire which doesn't help cut down friction. The have worked fine for me on road and light off-road usage. I recently purchased the Continental Goliath semi slicks which ride much more like a semi-slick tire.

Date Reviewed: February 1, 2002
Favorite Trail:Ridden these 99% road.
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:came with D60R
Strengths:slick
Weaknesses:slick, they slip if you even think about shifting half a pound slightly forward.
Similar Products Used:20" slicks on BMX bikes (kinda similar i guess.
Bike Setup:D60R
Bottom Line:Great for i road man like me. But they slip on hiils. The side grips collect mud and rub. I think mine were made abnormally thick because i ran over and shattered a beer bottle. Glass stuck in them for about 50 feet! No punctures. These tires pretty much stink though. Upgrading to Panaracer Fire XC 2.1 's.

Submitted by Matt a Cross Country Rider from Minneapolis
Date Reviewed: July 23, 2001
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $18.00
Strengths:Low rolling resistance.
Weaknesses:Horrible propensity to puncture. I've been using them during the summers for the past two years (I ride year round in Minneapolis, but these surely wouldn't do in the winter), and all I ever do is fix punctures...
Bottom Line:For the price, I guess I can't complain too loudly. However, I've already wasted the money I saved by not buying good tires on patch kits and tubes...

Submitted by Nathan a Cross Country Rider from Holland
Date Reviewed: June 27, 2000
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Low cost, reasonably durable, smooooth!
Weaknesses:Sidewalls not very resitant to 'snakebite', so keep the pressure up (3,5 bar minimum).
Overall quality and finish.
Similar Products Used:Michelin semi-slicks
Bike Setup:Merida Redskins (fullsuspension), SRAM 9.0, LX/STX-RC, Vuelta Airline 3 rims
Bottom Line:In summer i switch from Panaracer Dart/Smoke hardcore, to these green 'grippers'. I like the low rolling-resistance and the positive steering-response on hard/sandy surfaces
(i use 'm both front and rear). I would not recommend these tires to those of u riding hardtails, as they lack grip on steep hills especially while pedalling standing-up.
So far i've had no punctures, pretty good i'd say!

Date Reviewed: April 16, 2000
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Low Price.
Rolls easilyeven in softer dirt.
Great for road trips.
used for 300 miles on road with no signs of wear whatsoever, not bad considering my weight.
God only knows how many miles off road I put on , but it has been alot.
Weaknesses:Poor traction off road in anything but rock hard dirt.

Similar Products Used:nothing similar
Bike Setup:Cheap but surprisingly ride-able and durable wal-mart special(Mongoose D-60R)I have replaced with upgrades the wheels, gears(same range but more evenly dispursed gears, to fit the cartrige wheels) and the chain.
Not my first bike but the price was right for a replacement and it was the cheapest full suspension that I could attach my Burley to and the components seemed ok.
Bottom Line:Overall a great tire for what it was designed for
Holds up well, get it if you do alot of roading
For SERIOUS off roading in varying conditions suck as mud or realy high hills, pass it up.
Great for roadies, or weeekend people, or fat people like myself. I will probably replace my tires with the same ones.
I am 210 Lbs and these tires have taken alot of off road abuse that they probably never were intended to endure.
I'd even recomend the cheap bike they came with(with new wheels, and chain.)

Submitted by Liquid Man a Weekend Warrior from Aberdeen, MD
Date Reviewed: October 31, 1999
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
Great Touring Tire
Weaknesses:
SUCK Off-road!
Similar Products Used:
Continental Atlanta, Continental Montana
Bike Setup:
Mongoose D-60R (Work in progress...)
Bottom Line:If you bought your MTB to tour with then these are the tires for you! They look cool with the side bites are roll fast on hard pack and pavement. If you ever plan on going off-road with your MTB and you have Kenda Krisp tires, consider hiking instead! My first trip out, they fishtailed on every semi-muddy corner, they spun-out on steep hills, and they slipped off of wet rocks on the stream crossings. NOT a good tire IMHO! But, what do you expect wwhen it comes standard on a Wal-Mart special MTB?!

Favorite Trail:
Anything dirt
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Light
No rolling resistance
Cheap
Long Wearing
Weaknesses:
None
Similar Products Used:
All kinds of MTB Tires
Bottom Line:These semi-slicks are great. Good tires on hard pack and on dry rocks and rooty ground. They suck in the mud, but hey, don't ride slicks in the mud. They came on a cheap Mongoose I bought for the girlfriend; when I took them off and mounted her 'raptors I stored 'em until I needed some semis and mine were bald. So, I tried these on my stumpy.. what a pleasant surprise. Great tire for a great price.
