Strengths:wears REALLY well and grips any surface like... um... some kinda surface gripping thing... it has really thikc sidewalls that make it almost un pinch flatable and it has a nice stread
Weaknesses:there is only 1 kinda terrain that it sucks for and thats wet/muddy.. but im talkin riding into playland at powers water-much-muddy... also its pretty heavy and the sidewalls make it pretty hard to put in new tubes if you sum how do pop it
Similar Products Used:02 specialized big hit expert tire

Favorite Trail:to many to list
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:hawii
Strengths:This tyre works well in all conditions apart from extreme mud. compared to a 2.3 or smaller it feels like u have an extra 1 inch of travel. u can run stupidly low pressures. in one race i ran 5 psi in the front 2.7 and 8.5 psi in the rear 2.35
Weaknesses:stupidly heavy. if u race dh the course needs to be pretty extreme for these tyres to be an advantage. if the course is peddly and non technical a smaller tyre will be better.
if u used this tyre for every day use it would wear out within a month. however i only use this tyre for dh racing, and i have used the 2.7 as a front tyre for every dh race in the last 2 years about 20 dh's and its still good.
Similar Products Used:2.65 gazza, 2.5 high roller, 2.7 mobster, geax 2.25 sturdy
Bike Setup:elsworth dare, 7" boxxers, hayes, d max, mrp, race face, 9spd 11-32
Bottom Line:this tyre is designed for a specific purpose. extreme style dh tracks. in this area its is near perfect. for other activities eg street riding, easy tacks its too heavy and would wear out fast. i'd even go to if u rode this tyre on the road repeatedly and braked hard the nobs would rip off!
but thats not what this tyre was design for.

Favorite Trail:All of them
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:Some internet bike place
Strengths:Good Traction. Bigger tire will allow you to run lower pressures.
Weaknesses:Seems to wear rather quickly, even using the 60 durometer.
Similar Products Used:Nokian Gazz 3.0, Kenda Kolossal 2.6, Maxxis High Roller 2.5's, Tioga Fat 66, Continental 2.3 survival pro
Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Bullit built to free ride.
Bottom Line:This tire works well in all the conditions I've tried it in. It has given me consistent, predictable traction and performance. This tire has been run on everything from single track to sloppy mud.

I've read that this tire seems to have some issues with a short tread life. While the wear I've seen isn't as bad as some of the other reviews have indicated. The knobs on my tire didn't rip off, but it is disturbing seeing a gaping chunk in your tire with no "tire". This shouldn't pose too much of a problem for frequent, burly riders since we usually go through tires in less than a month. However, anyone looking for a long lasting tire for the buck will probably be better suited looking elsewhere.

Nutshell, this is one of the best all around performing tires I've used, but there is some quality issues dealing with long life.

I'm giving this a lower value rating because of the durability, but it is a very good performing tire so it's overall rating is higher than the value rating.

Favorite Trail:That other one over there
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $40.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Has a really cool look. If you're stuck on having a tire with a popular label, this tire's for you! I think if you buy a pair you also get a free Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirt and a Backstreet Boys poster!
Weaknesses:Knobs fall off VERY fast, yes, FALL OFF, not wear off.
Bottom Line:Okay, all jokes aside. The guys at Intense really do make some incredible products and I have a great deal of respect for them. However, this tire really struggles to keep up with its competitors. This review is of the front and rear combo, 2.7 & 2.6 respectively, 60 Duro.

It does offer great pinch-flat resistence and the ability to run very low pressures. But many tires also stake this claim.

The problem comes in two areas:

1) After a month of riding there are probably only about a dozen lugs left on the sides of my rear tire. This is rediculous. I don't know why they fall off so easily but this virtually eliminates all hope of keeping traction thru the turns. A friend of mine has one rear tire that is virtually without tread altogether and it's only two months old!

2) The tire's slip angle is such that when you just begin to lean the front tire, the tread pattern is aiming the tire at an angle so opposite from where you're wanting to go that you loose traction very easily. So forget about using your front brake with this tire.

My advice? Wait a while until Intense comes out with a tire that addresses these issues, as many other people and shops share my views, and then give them a try again. Intense does take pride in all of their products, this one just comes up a little short.

Strengths:Sticky - TOO sticky and soft
Weaknesses:See above

Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Heckler...
Bottom Line:These tires SUCK. After one month of use, lugs are peeling off and I've had about 10 flats. Just returned them to my LBS and they've had several other returns for same reasons and are sending their whole stock back to manufacturer. You've been warned - look elsewhere for your treads!

Bottom Line:Rode in the "wet" twice, more confidence over the 2.3 = faster-you can air it down & carve-or pound rocks faster..But it takes more energy to pedal for sure-I can't justify taking it back off to the 2.3 -- go with the 70 dur.

Strengths:-the best pinch flat resistance ever
-the 2.7 comp 60 is a great front tire, gives you control, lasts longer than the 2.35
Weaknesses:-pain in the ass to install
-knobs wear out really really quick
-a bit heavy
-not really good in muddy conditions
-expensive
Similar Products Used:tioga dh
Bike Setup:99' specialized fsr dh limited edition
x-vert carbon
xtr dh drivetrain
gustav disc brakes
azonic stem & riserbar
dee-max wheelset
Bottom Line:the bottom line is that they wear out too quickly for the price, you'll have to change them each 3 months and if you ride on hard pack they'll were out much quicker. At low pressure they give you incredible traction, but not in muddy conditions, so the decision is yours.... want a pinch flat resistance tire, it's the one!!! want a the best tire for every riding conditions, try them but, switch to different compond, maybe you'll find the best!!!!!

Date Reviewed: January 10, 2000
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Just about to impossible to pinch flat - these tires are great for jumping and wheely drops or bashing through rock gardens as they will not flat even at really low pressures. Also, the very stiff sidewalls have allowed me to run super low pressures (close to 20 psi) for incredible traction and shock absorbtion. For me at least they seem to absorb rather than bounce. And, they have been durable. The rear has about 2 months left but the front while the front is almost as good as new - that said I ride in softer conditions.
Weaknesses:
Just about impossible to mount and they really pack up with mud. Also, on hardpack and loose over hard conditions they are not the best as the knobs are a bit unstable. Also, of course, the weight.
Similar Products Used:
Tioga Factory DH which didn't last, pinch flatted all the time (but do weigh less than 1/2) and offered less traction (as could not run pressures as low)and were bouncy/unstable in hard cornering compared to the intenses.
Bike Setup:
Kona Stinky with Z1 drop-off.
Bottom Line:These are great tires if you want something for jumping and wheely drops, for very rough terrain and for loose soil conditions (but not mud).

Bottom Line:(This is a follow up review) I was running the Intense 2.35 in the rear and the 2.7 in the front. The 2.35 SUCKS! It can't hold a line in anything but smooth hardpack. The knobs were ripping away after two weekends of riding. VERY DISAPPOINTING. The 2.7 up front is holding up well but the knobs are too big for most riding conditions. The pattern has to be changed for better feel and control. Intense should get it right next year. In the mean time, I have put a Gazzi. 3.0 in the rear (custom frame modification). I'll let you now how it works for me in 6-8 months.

Strengths:
The 2.35 is big and
aggressive. It has great
pinch flat protection
and can be ridden home
on a flat.
Weaknesses:
Heavy-combined with the
DH tube you can feel the
pig flopping around when
riding wheelies. Makes
manuals a workout. Not
as noticeable on the
trail (except uphill)

Bottom Line:The 2.35 was too big for my judy fork but I rode
it anyway. It wore the tire down a little but no
endos. I own a QR20 now and will soon put it on
with the Intense 2.7 tire just for fun. The 2.7
is basically a motorcycyle tire while the 2.35 is
a scaled down version. The 2.35 is so impressive
that i've watched the tire slam up against a wedge
of glass that basically stabbed the tire no flat.
I actaully make it a point to ride through glass
now. I'll post a review of the 2.7 in about 3
months. Hopefully I'll get a new frame so I can
test their 24x3 tire on the rear. I give the
2.35 four flaming scheists (the 2.7 may be better)

Anything steep & fast
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Very durable and stiff. These tires can take a hit and keep going.
Weaknesses:
Side roll over. Even though the sidewalls are stiff, at around 30-35 psi the tires tend to side roll in the corners. At around 40 psi, the tires are just too hard.
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:Great design but not quite balanced for feeling the trail. These tires will probably ride better for someone who is less than 200lb. If anyone has any idea on how to make these tires ride better, let me know.
