Date Reviewed: February 8, 2006
Favorite Trail:Bermuda Old Rail Line
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $27.00
Purchased At:Universal Cycles
Strengths:Arrow Luanch SRS 2.25: Very, very sticky compound, strong side walls, low ride ability, mega traction, price, slow react (not bouncey), light mud traction great, weight to strength ratio good.
Weaknesses:Weight+/-
Similar Products Used:Schwable Super Moto, Kenda All Tereain
Bike Setup:2004 Trek 6700, 190mm Profile racing cranks
Bottom Line:Arrow Launch SRS 2.25. This tire is great for fun riding or if you are riding very rough terain, off camber, small to large rocky surfaces and you need serious traction, great as front tire. Almost did not fell the road as tire absorded every thing. On sandy surfaces the sand sticks to the tires and then is thrown off. It sounds like your riding on a freash ashpalted road, use a fender and shades. This compound needs to be on the Schwable Super Moto!!

Date Reviewed: November 14, 2004
Favorite Trail:B.C.
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $100.00
Purchased At:Gerick's
Strengths:Super strong tire with good air volume so you won't ruin rims with lower air pressures.
Weaknesses:A little sketchy at times in the dry dusty okanagan valley when you use it on the front.
Similar Products Used:Rokko, Stout, WTB, Intense,
Bike Setup:'01 Bullit, '00 Mr.T, Arrow Launch out back( surprisingly good so far on the trails)
Bottom Line:This is a really fast rolling tire that can take a beating. Kelowna trails have a lot of sharp rocks that can really rip up a tire. So far I have no complaints with both these tires and since I added the Launch to the back, my Bullit just flies down the trail and the 2.3 Prime wide has a good round profile for predictable cornering. A great tire if you can get past the price.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:grips up nice, you can run way low air pressure, nice round profile
Weaknesses:these suck to get on the rim but effort is worth it
Similar Products Used:kujo(who hasn't)
Bottom Line:these are the best tires I have ever had. I have a pair of maxxis and intense that i am interested in trying those also but these will be on my bike for a while since they don't wear out fast and grip nicely

Submitted by Kaku Ito a Downhiller from Setagaya, Tokyo Japan
Date Reviewed: August 5, 2002
Favorite Trail:Fujimi Panorama
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $6.00
Purchased At:Ogawa Ringyo
Strengths:This review is for !! Not for Wide Bite (the latest) nor Prime Wide (last year's model)!! It's lighter than the Prime
Wide
Weaknesses:Not as slow react as the durometer says. It does not grip as well as Prime Wide 2 duro 57.
Similar Products Used:Arrow Racing 24 x 3.0 duro57, Maxxis High Roller duro 50, IRC Kujo DH, Nokian Gazzaloddi, Kenda
Bike Setup:Kona 2001 Stab Primo wiht Dorado DH, Mavic XY 24inch rims, Raceface Northshore cranks, Easton Carbon bar and other parts are stock.
Bottom Line:I was able to make the stand over hight lower than the Prime Wide 2 tire and that was what I wanted to do, but the Prime Bite's durometer 57 is not as soft as Prime Wide 2's durometer 57.

I think the impression of Prime Wide 2 24 x 3.0 duro 57 and Prime Bite 24 x 2.75 should be totally different.

I love Prime Wide 2 24 x 3.0 duro 57, but did not like Prime Bite duro 57 too much.

Date Reviewed: July 2, 2002
Favorite Trail:Fujimi Panorama
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:Ogawa Ringyo
Strengths:This is for Arrow Racing Prime Wide 2 (02) 24 x 3.0 57 Duro. It bites, at the same time, the threads last long time. It rolls fast for the wide width (24 x 3.0 57 duro). Not expensive. I never got a flat tire once, yet eventhough I use light IRC DH tubes.
Weaknesses:Heavy as usually DH tires are. I wish Arrow makes this with Kevlar bead.
Similar Products Used:High Roller 24 x 2.7 (50 duro). I tried High Roller after using Prime Wide 2 (57) and got hurt from sliding side way. I put the Arrow tires back to my bike. High Roller is lighter, but the new Prime Bite would be simular to the High Roller. Prime Wide 2 is beefier.
Bike Setup:Kona Stab Primo 2001, Mavic XY rims (24inch BMX rim), Raceface ISIS Northshore cranks, Easton Monkey Lite Carbon DH bar and others are stock.
Bottom Line:I read the previous reviews, but I think everyone who had bad experience should try the new slow react versions (57 duro). I had the Prime Bite 24 x 2.75 67 duros before and they were too stiff for the downhilling in Japan.
Now, even the Prime Bite 24 x 2.75 is available with 57 duro version, so I'm planning to change the rear to Prime Bite 24 x 2.75 57 duro, while keeping the front to Prime Wide 2 24 x 3.0 57 duro.
I really trust these tires.

Date Reviewed: March 31, 2002
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $80.00
Purchased At:Gerick Cycle
Strengths:this is for the 24" 2.75. i got the super thick sidewall version, never got a flat running normal tubes, can handle low psi without complaint, and they got tons of grip
Weaknesses:with this sidewall they are really REALLY hard to mount on a rim! heavy!

Similar Products Used:kujos, maxxis
Bike Setup:brodie libido,jr.t, all the fun stuff
Bottom Line:this is a really great tire!! rolls faster than anything else i have tried! so far the tread is holding out really well, and i do a lot of urban riding with it. great tire for anybody who needs a super thick tire, or just likes not getting flats!

Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:SID'S BIKE SHOP, N.Y.C.
Strengths:ROLL QUICKLY
Weaknesses:WEAK SIDE WALLS. MINE HAD A NYLON SIDEWALL. DIDN'T REALLY HOLD ME WELL IN THE CORNERS. NEVER REALLY FELT LIKE THEY WERE GIVING ME ENOUGH TRACTION.
Similar Products Used:IRC, PANARACER, MICHELIN, MAXXIS
Bike Setup:BIG HIT, HOPE, DOUBLWIDES, RACEFACE, AZONIC, EASTON AND XTR
Bottom Line:EVERYBODY HERE HAS GIVEN A REVIEW FOT THE 2.70 AND 3.00 MODELS I HAVE THE 2.50 VERSION WHICH REALLY LOOKS LIKE A BEEFY 2.35 TIRE. THERE TIRES REALLY DIDN'T IMPRESS ME. I'M JUST GONNA GOT FOR STRAIGHT UP GAZZI'S NEXT TIME.

Date Reviewed: August 8, 2001
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $35.00
Strengths:Review is for the 3",24-in regular-wall version:
This tire is simply the most capable I've ever mounted to a bike.Accelerates and brakes like no other DH tire, awesome dry and pretty good wet weather performance.Lighter and better-wearing than the 3" Gazzoloddi(the Gazz is better in wet conditions though).Awesome front and rear!
Weaknesses:Need a WIDE rim to mount these puppies!May not fit some frames.Need to run higher pressure than the Gazz if you want it to last(at least 30 psi).It has great grip up to the(REALLY high)limit, but when it breaks loose it will break real fast and land you right on your surprised ass(this happened more than once).
Similar Products Used:3"x24" Gazzoloddi,IRC Kujo and Missile 2.35",Maxxis High Roller 2.5",Intense 2.5"x26
Bike Setup:Brooklyn TMX
Bottom Line:I give you a test:Ride your DH machine with just about any other tire there is.THEN throw the 3" Arrows on.Notice how much faster your bike is?
These are totally kickass tires, better than the Gazz in most every frickin' way except wet weather performance and MAYBE ultimate cornering grip(a little more predictable).Aside from the Gazz, every other tire is left totally lacking by comparison! The pinnacle of 3" tires so far.Too bad few people have heard of 'em..

Strengths:Excellent grip in loose over hard conditions and bullet proof side walls
Weaknesses:not so great for hard pack or slick rock, can be hard to mount and not enough sizes in the 24"
Similar Products Used:nokian,irc,tioga
Bike Setup:who cares?
Bottom Line:These tires are excellent for any kind of loose or muddy conditions. I have yet to tear a sidewall and they come in 24" size the only size to run.

Favorite Trail:Too many to name!
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:www.arrowracing.com
Strengths:Accelerates fast! The regular wall version is light(skinwall version is even lighter!) at about 1120g. Round profile and 24 size makes it handle quickly even though it is a 2.6in tire! Lowers BB height so making cornering better. works wellon dry surfaces.
Weaknesses:Measures less than claimed on my 32mm rims(not 2.75 but 2.6). The DH wall version is heavy ~1350g. Low profile lowers BB height signifcantly and can cause u to hit so rocks with pedals. Does work well on wet and muddy surfaces. Climbing on loose surfaces is not the best. Wears out fast on hard surfaces.
Similar Products Used:Gazzaloddi Jr 24x2.6, Duro Wildleopard 24x3.0
Bike Setup:hitec dual with 5in Marzocchi Z1 dropoff and 24in wheels.
Bottom Line:this is a review of the Arrow Prime Bite 24x2.75. These are great tires for dry surfaces only, their preformance on wet surfaces is poor. The Dh Wall version allows u to run lower pressures(20psi) but since it is heavier it will accelerate slower. The Regular wall version needs more pressure(30psi at the back, 25psi front) but accelerates much faster(it feels like almost like a semi slick!). Cornering is very good due to the large side knobs. they do wear faster than most other tires but the advantages by far out weigh the disadvantages. I will try to get the skinwall version(it is even lighter ~1035g) and will see if it is even better than the Regular wall version. This tire works great both in the front and back.
So i would only recommend the DH wall version if u are a heavy or very agressive rider. For regular folk sticking with the Regular wall will be fine.

Similar Products Used:Maxxis, Intense, IRC kujo, Gazzalodi

Bottom Line:Excellent rear tire, I don't know about 24" up front. They wear fast so buy 2 at a time.

Favorite Trail:
Sunday River DH
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Great Traction
Invincibility to Pinch Flats
Reasonable Price
Weaknesses:
A bit heavy
Difficult to mount
Similar Products Used:
Gazzalodi
Intense DH Trea
Bike Setup:
'00 Karpiel Disco w/Hanebrink and 24 wheels.
Bottom Line:Best DH tires on the market, IMO. They grip where there is no traction, and make all others seem like road bike tires. At first I thought that nothing could touch the Gazzie, but after trying the Arrows, it really changed my mind. The Arrows are much better in every conceivable condition than the Gazzies.
