Favorite Trail:cholula
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:tastes better than most other energy bars
cheaper than most energy bars
Weaknesses:kona crunch flavor tastes like poo
makes me thirsty
Similar Products Used:twix
Bike Setup:not important
Bottom Line:mmm mmm good.
full of good for you stuff
it's kind of hard to find. Smith's grocery store has them in the nutrition section. DON'T GET KONA CRUNCH.
peanut butter, cookie dough, and yogurt berry are the best three, respectively.

Favorite Trail:Pacific Coast Trail
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:The peanut bar is pretty tasty. Not too chewy or sticky, a pretty good texture. Doesn't melt on long rides or hikes.
Similar Products Used:Clif, Luna, Powerbar. Probably most of them at some time
Bottom Line:I prefer Luna bars b/c I don't need all the calories in these and most other bars. But this is the second tastiest bar after the Luna and on a par with the Clif bars, which are ok as well.

Duration Product Used:
2 Years
Strengths:
Cookiedough doesen't melt in the heat
Weaknesses:
too much fat compared to other protein bars
Similar Products Used:
I've tried em all
Bottom Line:Not the best tasting bar but not the worst either. The only flavor I buy anymore is cookie dough. It's about the best tasting and doesen't melt when I take them in saddle bag. I'd give the cookie dough 4 chili's but have to kick the overall rating back to 3 becouse of all the rest of the flavors and the high fat content (7 grams in a 2 oz. bar)

Date Reviewed: July 31, 1999
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
balanced macronutrient ratios
good non-candy taste on some flavors
Similar Products Used:
Balance Bars
Phil's Bar
Spirutein Bar
Bottom Line:I especially like the Peanut and Cookie Dough flavors, the former the best. These are good post-ride bars, as they have a bit more protein and fat than the typical Power-Bar clone, and thus are designed to support a more stable blood sugar. They are also suited to use during sedentary periods, such as at work, whereas the PowerBar types tend to be too sweet for my taste (and are too carbohydrate-dominated, some would say).

Date Reviewed: July 26, 1999
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
don't melt easily, taste, good all-around bar
Weaknesses:
hard to chew
Similar Products Used:
balance, clif, powerbar, promax
Bottom Line:These things seem to have a bit less carb than Balance bars, I don't know, I generally got more out of these than balance bars. I like them a bit more for workouts, but they need to be washed down with a good bit of water, as they are tougher to chew. The peanut butter variety (only one I've tried) taste good. They don't have a meltable chocolate coating, which is a plus compared to balance bars. These or balance bars, both are good, depends on whether or not you want chocolate.
Overall Rating:5
