from New England Date Reviewed: July 11, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | 40 MPH | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | The Cardamom Mango Astragalus (I'm not making this up) flavor is pretty tasty. Lots of dried fruit chunks and nuts with a nice spicy hint from the cardamom. No dairy products. | | Weaknesses: | Costs more than Clif bars and other more common energy bars | | Similar Products Used: | Clif Bars, Power Bars, Balance Bars, Breakthru Bars, GU, Clif Shot, plus a few others | | Bike Setup: | Road and Mountain | | Bottom Line: | Pretty tasty bar, and seemed to give me a good boost 3/4 of the way through a recent 65 mile road ride. The ingredients start with dried fruit mixture, so it is not heavily processed. It provides 230 cal, 6 g fat (0.5g sat fat), 39g carbs, 6 g fiber, 7 g protein. Nice change from my usual chocolate bars. Not sure of the value of the 330mg premium herbal concentrates, but I'll buy these again occasionally. Might try the other two flavors I saw in the natural food store where I got this one. | Overall Rating: |
