Strengths:    Fit on helmet. Ability to take out shadows from handbar lights (when used with). Aids in fixing bike in the dark. Fits well on different helmets. Generates more light than one would expect for 6W. Good customer service.

Weaknesses:    Adjustment screw is too lightweight for light and therefore is of limited use. No warning system of how much juice is left? Charger does not have automatic shutdown.

Bottom Line:
Great reliable product. Batteries reliable. For charger have built an automatic AC power shutoff to the chargers. Takes care of problem of forgetting to disconnect charger before wasting the battery

Bottom Line:

Turbo Cat contacted me personally with respect to my earlier review. I was impressed that they took the time to read my review and respond. The upshot of the exchange is: TurboCat states that they sold the replacement battery to the LBS at their cost, and they rewired my headlight with low temperature wiring (the LBS claimed they did it). Either TurboCat or my LBS didn't tell me the whole truth. At this point I'm inclined to believe TurboCat.The wiring harness is/was lousy for cold conditions, but TC claims they had warned the LBS of that fact and it shouldn't have been sold to me (or I should have been duely warned). Well, I was not warned and the wiring harness was lousy. TC and the shop both messed up.TurboCat's customer service is better than I gave them credit for in my first review, so I'm upping the headlight's score to 4 burning horses.

Bottom Line:

I've used a 6W TurboCat head lamp for the past 2.5 years, about 6 times a week. Though I
currently live in San Diego, most of my experience with this light was in Fairbanks Alaska -- a lot of
winter riding in the dark (you don't need a light in the summer at 65deg north!). My headlamp has
TurboCat's nicad battery pack.PROS:
1. Pretty bright for the wattage. Seems equal to the nightriders,etc.. of the same wattage. Bright
enough for snowy trails at slow to moderate speeds, not for the city or hardpack.
2. run time of almost 4 hrs with the nicad pack
3. Battery works ok in cold temperatures.
4. The light itself is very light.. (weight wise), so its not annoying when its on the helmet and it doesn't
bounce around.CONS:
1. Wiring harness is lousy. Basically, its standard 2strand insulated wire with no extra protection.
Becomes very brittle in the cold, which in my case led to it snapping at a flex point at the headlamp.
This happened while riding. The + and - wires came in contact, shorted out, and heated up the
battery causing quite spectacular melting of the plastic stuff that encases the battery pack. The shop I
bought it at graciously replaced the battery and rewired it using a better, cold-temperature wiring.
Thanks guys! I suspect the shop covered the cost of the battery, not TurboCat.2. The helmet mounting strap is stretchy neoprene-like stuff that ripped at a seam after 3 months.
TurboCat wouldn't replace it. I duct-taped that rip and several new ones since. Looks bad but
works fine.3. TurboCats support hasn't been great. See above.Summary: you could make your own light of similar or better quality, for less $.
I only use mine as a loaner now, and have a dual beam Niterider which I think is much better. The
shop where I bought the TurboCat (Beaver Sports in Fairbanks) gets 5 chilis, the light itself gets 2.5.
