Strengths: bright and relatively long burn time, I think mine has the "fixed" cables as they were hard to plug in, and harder to unplug. A good think IMO
Weaknesses: Mine only lasted 6-7 months before the battery died. I send it back and NR said it's out of warranty. They no longer offer this battery, so I think that says something about the reliability of it.
Similar Products Used: Cateye Stadium 3 (another great, bright, and heavy light that's lasted ~10 years!

Weaknesses: Everything seemed to be wrong with this product. I bought it and couldn't even use it. There was a problem with the cables and had to return it. They sent a new one but the charger didn't work this time. They sent yet another and again, it didn't work. This time was the bulb.
Bottom Line:
I would never buy this product again. Not sure about buying another product from Nite Rider. I do need a lamp so I'm looking into other options.

Strengths: Very Very Bright....

Bottom Line:
I believe I'm the one of the very few in Singapore to use this product.....Despite the extremely well lit conditions in Singapore, Niterider Moab still shows its might....When I ride on roads, cars are puzzled by the brightness.....they thought another car was coming their way! The light is very useful for night trails, given its brightness and battery life......And riding at East Coast Park at night is really entertaining....riders and pedestrians will jump out of your way....haha
Other than being abit pricey, can't really find any other weakness of this product.....I only worry that if it starts to give me problems later on, who am I going to find....theres no local distributor in Singapore....
Finally, what I wanna say is, I'm really proud to own it....no regrets!
Strengths: Burn time, brightness (equal to triNewt), durability, customer support.
Weaknesses: Weight: when stuffing your pockets full of gear, another large heavy object is a pain to fit in there.
Cord Warranty: I had issues with the headlight plug pulling out of the unit when removing the cord. sent it in for warranty and they fixed it by removing the plug and replacing it with a 6' cord instead so you dont yank it out of the headlight. Something they should have thought of before they used heavy duty connectors. Hope they enjoyed the teeth marks on the cables I sent them.
HID: not as cool as LED these days, but who cares, they dont make LED's with this long of a burn time (yet).
Bottom Line:
If you do enduro events you will probably find yourself using this light. The battery life is awesome, not to mention the back up LED's. However if you only need a few hours burn time stick with the new LED's out there with lighter batteries. These heavy Lith-Ion batteries dont do well in the cold, and are a pain to stuff in your jersey for just a quickie ride. Not to mention all the weight weenies laugh at your battery that looks like a radio. Output of this light is similar to the TriNewt, just a color difference. HID is phasing out, niterider is going all LED after they sell out of their HID lights. Overall I am pleased with this purchase. Even if I go out for shorter rides I can just leave it in my car all week and not worry about charging it.

Strengths: Superior brighness, Battery longevity, well made, water-proof, HID lighting, all around an excellent choice!!

The 1st one I got had a warentee issue that the good folks at nite rider had already sorted out. The plug in the light that the cord from the battery plugs into easily ripped out. But after a quick call another on was on the way. It was new and improved, built for strength. Also the battery does not last as long in cold (say wintery) conditions.
Bottom Line:
Great Light!!! It is a little pricy, but the MOAB's bennifits far outweigh the cost. I have never seen another light so bright and the battery last so long. I have done a few 24 hr races, and definitly had one of the brightest lights out there. The Battery lasts so long, a friend of mine competed solo, without recharging at all.
This light has caused me to enjoy night riding much more, as it turns night into day with is amazing power.
This light is great for endurance racers, or anyone who wants to enjoy night riding more.
The bottom line?? This is by far the best light out there!!
Strengths: Long burn time, multiple power settings
Weaknesses: The battery is heavy (comes with the burn time, I guess). Helmet mount is not easy to adjust once its on your head.
Bottom Line:
I am a 24 and 12 hour racer, if you are too, and you can only have one light this should be it. The beam pattern works well for both single track and fire roads. On the low setting the light was plenty bright enough to race with and burn time was over 11.5 hours, enough time for a 24 hour race. During a 12 hour race the high power setting is exceptional. It also is great for touring when you get stuck having to grind out a huge day that runs deep into the night. I'm considering a second one to use as a bar mount.

Strengths: Run time, brightness, ease of use. Customer service was fantastic. Great communication and fast turn-around on repair.
Weaknesses: Get a lot of flickering from blue to pink to green on bumpy terrain -- it is distracting. May be a characteristic of all HID lamps, I dunno. Also, lamp is heavy on the helmet, pulling it down. I'm told there is a rear helmet mount that eliminates this problem. Had a problem with the electronics in the lamp when I first purchased the unit, but they repaired it quickly. The battery is difficult to attach to the frame, it wiggles around. I have to strap it into the bottle cage. Man, it's expensive.
Bottom Line:
I love the long burn time. Don't have to recharge it after every ride. I lasts 3 or 4 commutes. Holds a charge for a long time too, so you can leave it sitting around for a couple of weeks and still have plenty of juice for your ride. I have been very pleased with the unit. I think if you use the rear helmet mount it will be comfortable. A better way to mount the battery to the frame would be welcome for handlebar mounted riding.

Bottom Line:
Pricey, that's for sure, but you get something nice in return. I ride my biking hours specially at night, as this is mostly the only time of day I can spare some time. Trying to ride as many nightrides as possible, this light makes you forget the difficulties of riding at night. No worries about runtimes, I always ride it a highest burn level, allowing for more than 7 hours.. Nightrides usually are shorter as they are more intensive and harder, so 1 charge gets me trough the week. Even when i see at the end of the ride the battery is going down, i switch to the lowest HID level, still allowing a safe return out of the woods and good visibility on road.
On road, this light grabs the attention of cars and trucks, so you get some extra safety onroad. Even if this light is strictly not allowed to be used onroad, pointing a little down, gives u a good light.
On nightrides, this lightgun gets u a lot of free space as people get out of the way quickly.Halogen or LED just don't give you the lighting in front of the bike, and on the side, as HID does. Very recommended
Weaknesses: on it's way back to the service dept for the second time in less than a dozen uses. major problems with connection between lamp and cable. first time the connector pulled right out [as described by other reviewer] this time it just stopped connecting, very frustrating and rather dangerous half way through the night of a 24 hour race.
if there was another light with same features/functionality i would look at that first
Bottom Line:
good light, but very fed up with connection problems. have to carry a backup light for safety.

A bright light for most trail use. Just got the light back from repair after just 3 rides. The plug on the lighthead completely pulled out when I was removing the cord from the light - wiring and all. The light tends to flicker when your bike is stuttering over harsh terrain, making a strobe effect. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

Weaknesses: Every once in a while the low setting will flicker orange/brownish for an instant after hitting a bump.
As with all bicycle HID systems I have seen, it does not utilize a projector lens with an inner light cutoff shield, as found in factory automobile HID headlights. Because of this, people facing me at night tend to get blinded, even if the main light pattern is aimed well at the ground. Also, the trees above me get more light than is necessary. A projector lens and shield would add extra weight to the unit, however, perhaps adding half as much to it, so I doubt I'll be seeing such a bicycle light any time soon.
Bottom Line:
While there is a bicycle HID system costing considerably more that pumps out even more light, for my night riding the high setting is more than enough for the street (where it keeps cars away from me and evens out the light between lampposts) and too much for a straight path. In fact, the low setting is almost too much on a straight path; when riding with others I sometimes just turn on the LEDs on both my MOAB and separate LED headlight. I see no purpose for the middle intensity setting.
I like the fact the bulb housing is rear-mounted so it is positioned more toward the front of the bike than if it could only be mounted to sit on the top of a handlebar, etc. Mine is mounted quite far forward:
For its size, the Lithium-Ion battery is very light. However, I have no real need for a battery of this capacity; I could do just fine with one half its size. Strapping the battery to the frame is annoying, so I have constructed a carbon fiber battery holster for it:
I can keep the battery mounted in the holster while I charge it by using the shorter cable between the charger and the longer cable connected to the frame.
