$30.00 | | Purchased At: | Walt's Cycle & Fitness | | Strengths: | (THIS IS A REVIEW ONLY ON THE HL-EL200!!!11) Bright enough to be seen. Birght enough for fair to good visibility. Good as an all-range light. Easy to install mount, which is a lot better than the new CatEye mounts. Batteries included!
| | Weaknesses: | None that I know of, since it's my first day using it. All I know is that it's not waterproof, so you better duct tape it!.
| | Similar Products Used: | NiteRider UltraFazer 3.0 , CatEye HL-EL220
| | Bike Setup: | TREK 3900 mtb hardtail | | Bottom Line: | A great headlight for commuters who want more from their headlights. I, personally, like them because they're bright enough for me... (for now, anyways)

$25.00 | | Purchased At: | Aaron's bike shop | | Strengths: | Small, lite, easy to mount and adjust. | | Weaknesses: | Not for seeing the road in front of you. | | Similar Products Used: | Other Cat-Eye lights | | Bike Setup: | Kona Blast, Thomson post and stem, various other bit broken and upgraded over time. | | Bottom Line: | This light does axactly what I bought it for. It is not bright enough to see the road but I don't believe that is what it was made for. It is made for being seen at night. The flashing setting is very visible and the LEDs mean long battery life.
If you want to see the trail you are going to have to spend more money. If you want to add a measure of safety and visibility to your commute buy this light. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Eastleigh, UK Date Reviewed: November 1, 2002 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Makes a good visibility light on murky days and when the sun's setting - also good as a backup light for a proper lighting system as you could get home with it (not as fast though...) | | Weaknesses: | Only differs from the EL100 in that it focusses some of the light into a small round beam, rather than having a wider spread - otherwise no brighter. Not remotely waterproof. Wouldn't really use on its own at night as, like the EL100, the side visibility isn't good enough in my opinion. | | Similar Products Used: | EL100 | | Bike Setup: | Road/MTB on-road | | Bottom Line: | I think it makes an excellent 'daytime running light' in the dark days of winter as a set of NiMH rechargeables will last 20+ hours, and it's a good bright light around the head-on - certainly better than car sidelights if you aim it straight on. Just remember to carry a clear poly bag in case it starts raining... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
