Strengths: Good shock absorption, cheap, robust, looks nice (still uni colors!), fits like a gloveWeaknesses: Ventilation can be better on modern helmetsBottom Line: I used this helmet for everything like 75Km/h sprints, "suicidal" commuting in London and roller blading for almost 5 years. I took it everywhere, dropped it a zillion times, and finally ordered a new one. Before the new one arrived, I once didn't see that damned curb at night and went ariborne. The helmet has now 10 cracks and a big dent, but I don't even have a headache.
Favorite Trail: anything with smooth tarmac and not too much traffic
Duration Product Used: More than 3 years
Price Paid:
$40.00
Purchased At: local bikeshop in London

Strengths: Great price, good looks and not bad weight.Weaknesses: It can get hot in the thing.Bottom Line: I had a bad wreck with one of these on the other day, over the handle bars and right into a rock. Put me out like a light and I could not remember the ride back to the truck or the ride home. Bottom line it broke but not my head.

Strengths: I like the fit and the "braintrust": It helps hold the helmet on your head just right. It has an adjuster knob that you can dial in the sping pressure. Looks good and Cheap!Weaknesses: can be a bit hot on the hot summer rides.Bottom Line: This helmet is comfortable and fit well. I never had an issue with it. It always stayed in place and felt good on my head. It did its job very well. Last week I hopped over a big root and landed in a mud slick, MY bike skipped once in the mud and I was catapulted off the trail right into a tree. I hit it head first going about 10-15 mph. I then slid down an embankment for 20 feet or so. But my helmet worked. My head was ringing like church bells on Sunday but I was ok. A week later and my scrapes and bruises on my legs hurt way worse than my head. I am going to buy another Airwave today. Good value , Great overall.

Strengths: Tough, fits head well.Weaknesses: Not enough vents for all day or hot weather riding. Crappy peak comes off too easily and doesn't fit snugly.Bottom Line: It's not good for serious all day riding because of weight and lack of air vents. It also makes you look like a big mushroom because it's soooooo big. It's heavy compared to similar models from Giro and Met, although the twisty tightener thing makes it fit very snugly.
The bottom line:
Entry level helmet
Favorite Trail: long thin twisty ones

Strengths: Cheap priceWeaknesses: heavy, not well ventedBottom Line: I wish I would have spent just a little more money for extra venting. The air just doesn't move around your head with this helmet. It's also a little on the heavy side. The airwave is okay protection for short rides or cool weather riding and the price is hard to beat.
