Works well on rough technical terain. Hardly bottoms out on big drops. I weigh 150 and havent bottomed on anything smaller then 10Ft. Small bump complience not the greatest.
There is a lot more flex in the fork then I'd like. I can really feel it when I'm on the front brake.
The fork has really been reliable have had it for a while and has never gave me any problems. Only had to service it once since I got it. The seals only started to leak recently and it leaks very little.
Bottom line is this is a great fork for the money. If your into freeriding and not going to race much this is the perfect fork for you. If your serious about raceing and have the money go with something like the Dorado.

early design with external adjustments for comp, & reb. Of course being inverted its very active, plenty of travel with 7.5" Marzocchi plush as usual. Easy to tune

Bottom Line:
I should have realised that just like a break lever, that you run loose so that it won't break in a crash. The fork should have the ability to flex, or twist so that the lowers don't disintigtrate after some hard riding, and a few crashes. This is the greatest fork, it's truely a Monster upside down. set the spring soft, add some comp & reb, then just add a few capfulls of oil each ride untill it only bottoms slightly. Just beautifully simple and....and....just to good for words. I really like the first generation, cheaper, shorter, adj compression on the top. A great fork for anyone, DH, FR, those who aren't still actually weighing thier bikes.

As to the twisting issue I tried it in the store with the tire between my legs but cannot figure out how to mimick this while riding so who cares. At 230 if this holds a good line for me at high speed and takes drops well( upgraded springs) should be good for you and looks better than a Monster with less weight

I have used boxxers on my Dare for over a year and this Shiver is night and day difference, despite the quality of the Boxxer. The Shiver is excellent on absorbing small stuff and large hits and does so in a way the Boxxer can only dream. Being heavier, the kicker is the Shiver is actually easier to maneouver, use and feels lighter. Installation is a snap and gives a feeling of power the Boxxer did not. I rider here in North Van and it is not at all flexy. It handles perfect, and rides up as easy as the Boxxer ever did but my bike pedals so well anyway. I thought riding was always fun but now it is with a sense of urgency. I cannot believe how much better this fork is and how it performs. Worth every penny, and the flex issue is irrelevent as anyone putting their legs over the wheel and twisting is not giving a real world test, and here in North Van is as tough as it gets.

This is a well built fork with solid internals and exceptional seals (like all Marz). The fork is very tunable via the volume and weight of oil added. Stiffer springs are sold for 25 bucks and can be installed in less than 10 minutes.
Weaknesses:
This fork is flexy, if you stand in front of your bike and twist the bars like the moron below describes. What is not being taken into account is that when you are railing that tight corner the suspension is slightly compressed and that dramatically stiffens the fork.
Similar Products Used:
Boxxer, Stratos S5 and SS8, all fail in comparison. Monster T
Bike Setup:
Karpiel Disco Volante
Bottom Line:
I am very happy with this fork, at first I was hesitant to get it cause of all the bad reviews.
One other counterpoint I need to make is this fork will not bottom out and hit the front tire on the lower crown, If it did I sure as hell wouldn't have it on my bike. I took the springs out and adjusted the hieght of the crown to be a 1/4 inch above the tire when fully compressed. DO NOT RUN YOUR CROWNS TO LOW ON THE STANCTIONS!
This fork is capable of holding a solid line if you lean forward the way your supposed to and place your trust in the fork.
Don't be ignorant, set the fork up right and you will be stoked on it's handling, durability and looks.

I have no idea how anyone over 150lbs could rate this a good fork. The fork flexes huge into corners and will NOT hold a line. I am not trying to cause trouble here so all you shiver owners who are proud to own an expensive marz "signature" fork do this simple test them reply. Stand in front of your bike, squeeze the front wheel with your knees and twist your bars. Now do the exact same thing with a Super T, Monster T, Boxxer or anything else reputable and compare (even a Junior T is stiffer!!!). I personally saved up and shelled out for the Boxxer and it was a massive improvement! I would have been just as happy with any of the other marz forks mentioned. Good luck!

Weaknesses:
Bottoms out bad. May need stiffer springs, but I only weigh 170. Also, the cable routing is tricky with no brake arch if you run brakes with stiff cables. The tire can grab the cable when the fork fully compresses. And....there is NO info on the Shiver in the factory manual.

Strengths:

Bottom Line:
One of the best forks for downhill racing. It may not be the beefiest fork(for insane freeriders, I recommend the Monster or Super Monster T), but it is incredibly rigid and bottomless. The adjustments make a huge difference. Definitely play around with it to match your rear suspension. I recommend putting a zip tie between the bottom of the upper stanchion and the fork guards(otherwise you might scratch up the upper fork tubes bec. they rub against the fork guards. The bottom line-this fork is so smooth, solid, and dialed, you don't worry about the bumps, only which line is fastest.

Strengths:
Quite rigid, only feel a tiny bit of flex when turning hard, and compressing the fork at the same time. Extremely nice Rebound, actually makes a difference, unlike some others. Doesn't bottom out often. Looks Psycho! Fork Guards for peace of mind.(So far anyways) Great seals.
