Strengths: Plush ride and highly customizable settings. Can easily be changed to offer a firm ride, even though it doesn’t have lockout. Strong, ridged fork that won’t flex or rattle too much while bouncing over some single track or rough XC trails. Absorbs dust, mud, and rocks without gumming up and will go all day, all week, all month, or longer without any issues.
Weaknesses: Slight sticking when you go a long time without cleaning it, but I’ve only noticed this went pumping the shock up and down manually, not when I’m actually riding over rough terrain. It just needs a good cleaning and some new boots and then it’ll be back to factory ride quality. New seal kits are cheap at about 12 bucks.
Bottom Line:
I had this on an old 19” Gary Fisher Sugar 4+ frame for about six months and now it’s on a 20” Kona Four Supreme. The improvement from my old 80mm spring shock was dramatic. Now easily I roll over obstacles instead of hurdling over my handlebars. The fork is older and probably needs new seals, but it just doesn’t ever lose pressure so I keep putting it off. I can ride it daily for weeks, and then leave it sitting for a month, and the pressure won’t budge from my setup of 95 psi. The seals are just rock solid. It has started to stick a little, but just when I’m manually forcing it and not when I’m actually riding. I imagine that’s just because I need to overhaul it with some new boots and Fox fork oil. Fox recommends a rebuild about every 40 hours of hard riding if I’m not mistaken, so this fork is well overdue. Great fork, you won’t be disappointed!
Bike Setup: Kona Four Supreme frame, Fox Float RL 100 fork, Fox Float RL rear shock, Mavic XM317 rims with WTB LaserDisc Lite hubs, XT drivetrain and hydraulic dual control shifters, Chris King headset, Thompson stem, Easton EA70 seatpost, Specialized BG saddle with manganese rails, Shimano pedals, Panaracer Fire XC Pro 2.1" tires, Salsa Juegos de Fuego grips

Strengths: Very plush,No flex,Super reliable.
Weaknesses: Can`t think of one
Bottom Line:
I`ve had this fork for 5 years, in the first year I changed the oil, after that I didn`t do anything to it but use it and abuse it. I`ve raced and ridden on it probably thousands of miles(no exageration). Not once did the fork leak oil, the lock out still worked and the air seals never went out. After almost 4 years of use I finally sent it out for an entire rebuild, but not because it failed, I just wanted to keep it since my luck was so good with this fork. I am obviously extremely happy with this fork. I will be using the RP23 rear shock on my next build which will be a Ventana frame, and I will be using the new float RLC 100. I hope I have the same fortune with their other products; I am optimistic.

Strengths: tracks better than any fork I've every played with. worked out of the box, from the second production run.
Weaknesses: none, except that everybody wants to tell you their opinion of it.
Bottom Line:
the best fork I've ever ridden, rode it from early 2001, untill fall of `05 with no service or problems. the only problem I've had was when in the fall of `05 I managed to brake the damper adjuster rod when I took it apart to finnally change the oil. bought a new damper rod, fox forgot the o-ring, I called and asked for a new one or what size, they sent me a whole seal kit for the damper... I would buy a 36 for my new nomad, if they had any to ship, for now I'm on a Maverick. The only fork i suggest to my customers, and the only one I enjoy working on as a mechanic

Strengths: Great performance when new.
Weaknesses: Seals broke and oil leaked all over. Had to get the seals replaced--am I going to have to get them replaced again??? Sigh.
Bottom Line:
This fork is great but the seals will leak and deteriorate over time. Is that normal for shocks in general? Don't shocks need to be maintained every year or two anyways? My Marzocchi bent after i stacked it on a 4X double...When I tried the double again on this puppy, it was fine. All i know, is huge performance improvement from the Z4...don't like paying $$ to get it fixed every year though...minus one point.

Strengths: Still using it after 2 years. That says a lot for a piece of biking equipment (for me anyway)
Weaknesses: None anymore. Needed a break in. The damper assembly should be easier to service and assembled better. Maybe the new 2005's will be better.
Bottom Line:
I only rated the fork as average the first couple months I had it. I was disappointed with the medium bump performance. Since I have gone to using 7wt motorcycle fork oil, and have changed the oil seals, the fork is definitely better.
during the first year of ownership, I had to tighten a small setscrew at the bottom of the hydraulic cartridge. It had loosened, and rendered adjutments at dials useless. I cleaned it up real good and used a small bit of blue threadlock to make it stay. I haven't had a problem since then.
I recently changed the fork seals. They had always perpetually leaked on the right fork leg. Every ride it would bleed oil, and run down the leg. I would have to lift the seal and add more every couple weeks. After I broke down and ordered the seals, replaced them, it has not leaked since!! Over 3 months now, no excessive leaking. WTF?? Why didn't the first two seals not stop the leaking? Very weird. Anyway it seems to be fixed in this regard and no more leaking.
I ride with 68psi in the air chamber, 7wt oil, and the rebound damper turned out 4 clicks from max. It works really well.
I am so temtped to get a Fox terralogic fork, but the exhorbitant price is stopping me. $700+ for a XC fork is outside of my "reasonable price" range.
Anyway, I am pleased with this fork, and as long as it doesn't fail, and the stanchions are not worn out yet, I will keep riding it. No play yet in the stanchions, so the bushings are holding up. I don't know if I will get tit fixed or not when that happens.

Strengths: This fork is very responsive, able to smooth out big hits as well as small ones
Weaknesses: after 14 months of use it is leaking oil like the exxon valdez.
Bottom Line:
This fork rides as well as all the reviews below say. However, over time it will leak oil and break. My steer tube needs replaced due to a crack and the oil cartridge is toast. Fox will not do anything to help other than to rebuild it for 200 to 300 dollars. Do not give thought to any review with a product use time of a year or less. The reliability is very suspect and the customer service is a joke. The only person who should buy this is someone who can afford a new one every year.

Strengths: Stiff. Plush for an air sprung fork.
Weaknesses: Oil leakage. Compression Valve doesn't work. Customer Service needs some work.
Bottom Line:
The amount of oil that leaks out of both stanchions is worrisome. A little coating of oil is considered normal, but mine oozes out and drips down both legs. I have sent it back to Fox once before, but after just 2 rides, it was back to its old self. When I tried to send it back for a 2nd time, I was told that all they can do is sell me a dust wiper seal kit for $15 and 7wt fluid for $24. With this kind of support, I feel very proud to be an owner of this fork. Oh yeah, I have the RLC. "C" compression is useless. It just doesn't work. I should have gotten the R or the RL
Bottom line......the fork does work very well. However, changing the dust wiper seal kit and refilling the oil after every couple of rides is ridiculous. Wait until they fix this problem before buying one of these
Weaknesses: Really expensive,a bit too heavy for cross-country races, the lockout lever is small and a bit difficult to reach in race situation, the fork is leaking and it's not reliable at all, crappy customer service
Bottom Line:
The fork has been the best fork I ever had for the first 7 months, Until the entire right leg cap blew out just before a race.I was lucky enough to be at a worldCup events so the guys at Fox took care of it for free, but the next ride the fork started to leak, and I Had to order new seals and oil and it cost me 70$ and the fork is still leaking, even worst, the lockout doesn't work anymore. All that after only 8 months. That's unecceptable for a 600$ fork and we can say it'sbecause I abused the fork because i'm only 150 pound and I never did any big drops or anything with it, so i'm really upset about the crappy customer service. So my solution is to buy a new Sid Team which will be more reliable, I'll save a pound and it will cost me less....

Strengths: Although it doesn't leave a strong impression on the first ride, after a few weeks of riding you realise that time and time again this fork delivers controlled predictable performance under all maner of riding situations. This fork has an excellent suspension action and respond well whether going steady or hitting stuff flat out. Yes its slightly heavy for an air fork, but its sturdy build gives a solid feel with precise steering. Stripping the fork down reveals the source of the forks excellent damping and some of its hefty weight: its high quality machined internals.
Weaknesses: Fresh out of the box this fork has flawless performance but unfortunately this is only half of the fox experience. The upper legs are covered with a very delicate low friction coating. Any dirt getting past the seals and finding its way to the bushings will strip this off. Without this coating the seals don't work properly and oil and air will leak out of the fork. This happened to my fork after 12 months riding despite cleaning the fork after each ride and following fox's recommended maintenance schedule. To get the fork working again properly requires a new steerer/crown/upper leg assembly to be fitted - $260 for fox to do this. And it looks like it could be a yearly expense to keep these units running. I've used various suspension forks, not maintained them half as carefully as the fox's and none of them are anywhere near as delicate as the Float Forks.
Bottom Line:
Excellent performance but you're signing up to a maintenance nightmare.

Strengths: super stiff and responsive
Weaknesses: none
Bottom Line:
Been riding this fork for since it came out, and have absolutely no complaints. It is still very stiff and can handle more than I'm willing to throw at it. Several times I've expected it to torque or respond poorly, but it never has. It locks out easily with a twist that can be done while riding without worry, and it dials into the rebound speed that you're after. Unbelievable fork, great value no matter what the price.

Strengths: Looks, adjustability, Fox service, holds air all year long, no adjustment
Weaknesses: Clicking, some play in between stancion and crown?? back side of crown cross section collects mud like you read about.
Bottom Line:
This fork feels great, have had no real problems except the play in the crown/stancion leg?? Can't figure that out. As I nearly bottomed it out I put some more air in it( about 10 more lbs) and it seems like it lost some of its plushness. Not as buttery smooth. Just ride and ride some more. Low maintenence.
