Strengths:    Not being made any more.

Weaknesses:    Doesn't really work.

Bottom Line:
My sister bought this old Rockhopper at a police auction--quite a nice bike, if you ignore the cheesy crank with riveted chainrings and house-brand rims. Nice frame on it, anyway. She kept telling me, "The suspension fork doesn't work. There's something wrong with it." So I took a look at it--and it had all of 0.5" of travel. I finally took it apart this evening--I mean, maybe it's supposed to be that way. Turns out you can cut about a half inch off the pre-load elastomers. Pretty soon she'll have a full inch of travel!

Bottom Line:
My Friends and I were deep on a trail in the middle of nowhere, and we came across the carcass of a dead wild boar. The boar weighed about 250 pounds, and because of the long ride, we were hungry. We built a large fire, but couldn't figure out how to cook the beast. We were in luck, having just purchased the Suntour SR forks for my bike. We skewered the boar with the forks, and roasted it over a large fire. They worked great in that respect. As for trails, I think the forks work as good as the suspension on a Ford Aspire in the middle of a tornado on a road with potholes...

Bottom Line:
With the addition of the duro 8001 to suntour's product line, Suntour stands to dominate the suspension industry for years to come. At only 85.7 pounds, my front end practically floats into the air when I attempt to go around a rocky corner at moderate speeds, and the resulting facial injuries bring me to transcen-dental awareness. Plus, when Im not using the fork for riding, it doubles both as the counter weight for an elevator, and a pogo stick for my siamese twin daughters. All in all, if you hate Stevie Wonder, buy this fork right this minute.

New year, new review! These forks are rock, plain and simple. I can't believe they are overlooked by the main- stream press. Must be the lack of advertising. Mine have been going strong with no maintenance or problems for the past 7 years. Plush, sophisticated damping, ultralight at 6+ pounds, 1"-2" of cushy long travel Best. Forks. Ever!

Strengths:    very durable with almost no maintinence. once broken in you'll get two inches

Weaknesses:    the name is kind of cheezy

Bottom Line:
i've had these things for five years and had them tuned up once. i've done some downhill with them and gone through hell with them. they give you a great ride and for the price you can get a better set of shocks. any of you losers who say they suck or they break are retarded. just to metion you can't spell worth sh*t, therefore you don't qualify to even give these shocks a rating. stick to your high priced shocks that you always have to fix. as for the weight? i've beaten every bike courier in town with there ultra lite expensive bikes and they all get super pissed. too bad! one day you'll realize that it is not all in the name brand but in the product itself.

Strengths:
Sheer durability
Smooth as silk performance
soaks up everything, even 14 stumps.
Can't feel 12 foot drops
Bomb proof.
Super stiff.
easily adjusted with the aid of a hammer and dynamite

Weaknesses:
too heavy (23 lbs with disk brake)

Bottom Line:
This fork could bring down the Titanic if on board. The severe weight and flexyness leads to horrible performance. To bottom these forks out, it requires Yokozuna to go off a 100 foot drop off onto pavement. The combo spring/damper must be some leftover elastics rubber and steel scraps from junk bins. This fork deserves a good one chilly pepper for creating jobs in the suspension industry as well as the garbage industry.

Theft! Everyone wants them

Bottom Line:
I have tried all the other downhill forks and found them to be stinky piles. If you want a hella good ride and radacious performance, beg, borrow or steal a Duotrack. Dude you won't be sorry. Buying into the big three's hype is simply being manipulated by the Man. Think for yourself and get these forks. You won't be sorry. My whole life has changed as a result. These forks keep me jazzed all day long. Now I just worry about trying to find time to ride when not entertaining the ladies!

Dude this shock beats my old Manitou, hey they dont sponsor me anymore, but who gives a damn? I am now a member of Team DuoTrack, and I am so proud to wear the colors of Team Dou Track! Oh well Mountain Dew also dropped my partnership with them, but remember, I have Team Duo Track! These things kick the shit out of Manitou and RockShox! Ride on and hite rites and threaded headsets and U brakes and biopace chainsets and clips and straps and 18 speed bikes and huffys and threaded axles rule!

I was looking a way to improve my Pro Flex 957, and after installing a full XTR grouppo, i foung this xcellent fork on a junkyard! can you belive it? probably someone stole it and just trow it away not knowing its incredible value, so I was lucky to found a fork that outperformes all of the others, damm I think I found God, now my bikes weights 50 lbs, more, so I can hardly brake, not to mention the non-existent flex inthe legs,( no brakes, no stop on the downhills) I am very happy....

We at the government of the United States of America request that the previous message be forgotten by all. As of now, there is no alien threat to the planet Earth. Such jokes should not be posted considering the upcoming colonization. As for the fork, go out and get one now, right now. It may be your only hope.

Brought a plague upon my planet.....not many survived.

Bottom Line:
After reviewing your planets' latest creation, the duotrack bicycle fork, the council had decided you lacked the intelligence to become royal slaves. We promptly returned to our home planet, and dimension, when this contraption released the great plague. Only I and a few others survived. At the time we do not have the means to retaliate, but soon this atrocity will be avenged. Live in fear.

Ultra cool look!

Weaknesses:
Too much travel. Way too light before I fudged around w/ it.

Bottom Line:
I bought these amazing forks at K-mart during a buy-2-donkeys-get-a-free-sontour-special. I have to agree with the guy below me...you know, all that extra weight in the front really does keep the bike down while climbing...hell, I tweaked up my rockin sontours and made them a whopping 25.5 pounds. I can assure you my front NEVER leaves the ground...actually...the whole bike doesn't leave the ground EVER. I gotta tell you though, the shocks are incredible when your not moving, they are SOOOO plush and smooth, any racer would be amazed. I gotta say this is the shocker of the century. There are no elves. The suggestion of this is so lutacrice i can't even imagine what kind of insane man would say that. However, I did find that the inside of the fork has no piston or anything at all. It actually has a brand new water-system design. Absolutely amazing!!!! And when all the water leaked out the travel actually increased! This is a must buy for all people looking for a good 54 pound downhill machine and a super climber. I've never had so much fun doing circles in my garage since I got these! 5 Blazing shits for these puppies.

Why don't you guys who have nothing better to do than criticize this fork GROW UP!!!!! What's wrong with a fork that only weighs 7.7 lbs? Come on dudes waske up and smell the roses!!! All that weight up front helps keep the front end down on those tough climbs. And furthermore that 1 of super plush travel is some of the smoothest and best you will ever experience. I just put one on my 98 Dakota and now I have the REAL bike of the year!!!! You are losers all.

Bottom Line:

This is an update. Well my forks are still running smooth and I just was invited to head up product development for SR-Suntour. Currently we are designing a full suspension bike that uses the same technology as the fork. The bike will be perfectly balanced with an 11/2 front and rear. Now you will know what the trail is instead of riding a marshmallow bike. The new bike will weigh in around 68 pounds so much effort does have to be used when trying to get down the hill. Also new is the use of electro-magnets instead of a seat. That is right, using a special metal plate in your shorts your butt will actually levitate over the seat. Don't look for this bike soon, because our downhill team will be traveling the world-cups this year. Before you look at any other bike check this one out. Estimated price (with batteries) is $4580. If you are interested in buying this bike, trying it out free for a year, or becoming one of our downhill racers(no experiance needed) e-mail me. On another note I would like to say that I don't appreciate the remark that we use elves in our product. People that post here for no reason should be banned off this site.
