Strengths:    Shockworks "Big One RAM". Infinite rebound and compression adjustment. Very stiff, no flex and absorbs large hits well. Very easy to rebuild.

Weaknesses:    No one in the US carries any parts for it. Depending on the riders weight you may need to play around with the valving and fork oil to get it adjusted properly. Does not work well over chatter bumps until it is adjusted properly.

Bottom Line:
This for is extra stiff, has an inch more travel then the Monster T and is a pound lighter. Hard to get set up but works excellent once it is. Worst problem I am having in getting parts for it. Because of the trouble getting parts, I only give a 3 flame overall.

Strengths:    I've used my Shock Works DH3 fork for 3 1/2 years and am going to buy a Dirt Jumper2 now, but I have to say: The old Shock Works forks (DH1, 2, 3, 5) are made for eternity! No tree-crashes, no ugly nose dives were able to harm this fork, nor the Shock Works forks of my friends!
I'll miss my old baby...

Weaknesses:    Cheap pseudo air damping (DH2+3 only), doesn't really work...

Bottom Line:
To all of you who would be able to buy an old second hand Shock Works fork: Buy it! To all of you who own one: Don't replace it! I've seen destroyed Rock Shox, Marzocchi and RST forks, but no Schock Works! Although there are forks with a better performance, you won't get another fork with this quality for such a low price.

Strengths:    I bought a Shockworks Big One Pro. It looks good because it looks like a Marzocchi Monster T. Otherwise, there's not many strengths.

Weaknesses:    Terribly poor Quality of Control from Shockworks!!! No SHOCK ABSORBPTION at all!!! SLOW REBOUND!!!

Bottom Line:
I think the shock I got had many defects to begin with. I believe it's due to the poor Quality of Control in the Shock Works factories. Mine had unusually slow rebound at the beginning, and seemed extremely hard, and stiff. I couldn't compress even if I tried jumps with it. About one and half months after I bought this, there was NO SHOCK ABSORPTION at all!!! It seemed like the shock turned into a 4.0 kg piece of solid metal. It wouldn't compress and it certainly didn't have any rebound as well. Take my advice, DO NOT BUY THE SHOCKWORKS BIG ONE PRO!!!!

Bottom Line:
I am thinking of buying a Shock Works RAM for AU$850.
Just a few questions if your putting in a review.

I've ridden Boxxers, JnrT's, Xvert Carbons
are Shock works RAM's any thing like these as far as the plushness of the suspension goes?

How much effect do the external rebound and compression have?

Are these as stiff as a boxxer or Xvert carbon?

Maintainace? Do they require much maintainance?

The claimed weight is 3.3kg does is this acurate?

Thanks in advance

Strengths:    Just what you would want for the price, two springs for the xtra stiffness and plenty of travel for when needed and also an adjustment for soft and stiff riding. amazing seals on them keeps all mud and water out.

Weaknesses:    Plastic adjustments would be better if they were metal. Can be a bit stiff in winter, but you get this with most suspension

Bottom Line:
Only had these forks for 6 months and i'm impressed!!Shockworks kich ass!!, no need to sevice these babies. You have to gat your hands on a pair. The forks i had before i thought was ok but the ones i have got now are ten times better than suntor and 20 times than chilli. Chilli wares out to quick to soft for downhilling and has bad seals which wil be bad news in the wet and muddy conditions.

Strengths:    Big One Pro - travel, travel and more travel. Extremely plush, extremely stiff. Ride beautifully out of the box.

Weaknesses:    None. Don't bother if you like pedalling up hills though.
These are for going down big hills fast.

Bottom Line:
I thought my ZZYZZX forks were OK, I was SO wrong. The Big One Pro's have more travel, are stiffer, no top out. I haven't yet needed to service them or even adjust them. These puppies just work and work well. Can't see any benefit to spending big $$$ on other forks that are no better.

Strengths:    These forks are suprising smooth for the money. I beleive that they are somewhere near to being as smooth as boxxers are. Dirt Cheap as well- only 200 quid! Very easy to maintain as well. I have only serviced mine twice in six months and the work as well as they did when I first got them. The are reasonable tough as well. I have had a few major crashes while using them and the are not damaged (exept for lack of paint!)

Weaknesses:    Quite heavy, but what does it matter? They're DH Forks. Also in the cold they seem to stiffen-up even though the have no elastomers. I think this maybe poor quality bushings, I am unsure. Original Axel is poor, get a new one! They are only 10 quid!

Bottom Line:
Extremely good value for money...what's the point buying a huge set of forks for 500 quid when you can get some for 200?

Strengths:    These forks rock, seriously nothing comes close. Out of the box they are just amazing, silky smooooooooooth travel all the way to a controlled bottom-out. The fact that they are as stiff as a triple dose of viagra, come with a through axle, and are disk break ready are just added bonuses. Sure not many people have heard of shockworks, but if you dont give a monkeys about brand names, or have the facilities to get them powder coated, then they are perfect, plus the fact that you wont be worried about scratching them (diddums). Oh yeah and they were a perfect match colourwise for my Marin East Peak ('98 model). What more can I say? Most of my mates use them..... Oh, if you strip the paint off them, make sure you dont get any Thinners/Nitromores on the seals, as it tends to work it's way into the bushings, makning them swell amd basically screw up, but that's just common sense
THESE FORKS ROCK!!!!!!!

Weaknesses:    nothing, unless you are bothered about weight...
but these are DOWNHILL forks, so you shouldn't be =P

Bottom Line:
TOP NOTCH MATEYS
GET SOME

Strengths:    So damn good. Loads of the plushest travel ever (Blows almost anything else out of the water) Excellent easily adjustable rebound, Over built and the strongest stiffest forks I ever rode and all this for £200! I'm talking about the DH1s. (I only greased them once (for no reason) in a year!)

Weaknesses:    A bit heavy, but with a DHO fork who cares? You'll need to take a can of spraypaint to the 98 versions. Could do with Comression damping, but for £200 it is asking a bit much.

Bottom Line:
Piss everyone off who have £1000 forks that dont work as well as yours.

DHO.

Fantastic.

Strengths:    Big One Pro forks
Silky smooth bottomless travel and lots of it. Everything is over built but they aren't too heavy. Oil bath damping with adjustable comp and rebound on top of leg. 40mm tubes are super stiff and it comes with QR or 20mm

Weaknesses:    can't think of any....Oh yeah the stickers are a bit sad but even they come off easily.

Bottom Line:
Awesome forks especially for the money...just don't put them on your freeride bike or you'll never ride up another hill.

Bottom Line:

This shock came with my '99 Marin B-17. The annoying thing about it though is that the rebound damping isn't always consistant. Every once in awhile I get little or no damping! Also, I found the spring to be too stiff for me (I'm only 135lbs) and so even though I can imagine that the dual rate spring is great to help prevent bottoming, for me it shortens the total travel of the shock. I have tried to contact them about a lighter spring, but the company is practically impossible to reach-I cannot find their web page, phone number, mailing address, ANYTHING! If the damping cartridge was improved and I could contact their company, I'd give it a 5, but with the way things are now I have to give it no better than a 3. Oh, one good point though - lots of travel per $ compared to some other companies' shocks.
