Strengths:    It's a shock

Weaknesses:    Not enough travel, springs are too weak.

Bottom Line:
Not a horrible shock. It gets the job done on most of the bumps. Hopping off of curbs or going over small logs often causes the shock to bottom out. Great for casual riding on paved trails, or reasonably smooth offroad, but for tough trails I'd almost prefer the rigid fork that came with my frame.

Strengths:    Strong!!! My friend has done numerous 7'to flat drops on this fork and I've droped a couple 6'to flat and jumped a bunch. Can fit a 2.7inch tire.

Weaknesses:    seals leak a bit.

Bottom Line:
I could not dream of a finner fork for $20.

Strengths:    Plush (for a 2.5 inch travel fork), work great (I was hucking 7 steps and dropping 3 feet to flat with these on a hardtail - not bad forks!) They are nice forks - short travel wasn't a problem.

Weaknesses:    They were a great fork till I CRACKED BOTH STANCHION tubes at the crown!! Scared the hell out of me - they didn't snap, they cracked - I thought I blew the seals so I stopped riding them..

Bottom Line:
Good for for beginners (as long as you don't do CRAZY stuff) - I wasn't doing CRAZY stuff, but I was ripping down stairs on these forks - they protected me (they let me do it) but they sure as hell were not designed for it - this is the Z3 '99 Light we are talking about. Was a good fork while it held out - it was a blessing to have over my old Marzocchi XC-R fork (also 2" of travel).

Strengths:    Light, pretty and real smooth

Weaknesses:    Bit noisy (as if that matters)

Bottom Line:
I know there are many forks with longer travel or fancier damping, but do you need it? I've thrown these shox into all sorts of stuff and they're consistently smooth and strong. They give great traction and control on almost any terrain, whether it's XC or around town. Really nice smooth action, although they seemed to take a bit of pre-load tinkering and a few miles to really settle down. I can't imagine how you'd improve a fork at this price.

Strengths:    Strong, Beautiful, not too heavy...

Weaknesses:    The squishy sound from the coils. No other weakness, haven't had it forever though... Maybe a bit short travel...

Bottom Line:
WICKED!!!

Although the short travel is a bit annoying, the fork works its way through any terrain, drops or jumps! Just let it work and ride it hard, thats when it's at its best!

Weaknesses:    NONE! They are great!!!!!

Bottom Line:
I love these Marzocchi Z3 lights. I was thinking about replacing them this year, but I can't find anything lighter, stronger, better on the market. I highly recommend these forks if you can find them. Buy them! They are the bomb!

Strengths:    Looks nice, good feel

Weaknesses:    Um they explode without warning

Bottom Line:
OK, so these are XC forks but i hav been using them for trials but that doesnt explain why these forks keep on spontainiously exploding. Its hapened to me twice now, for some reason they hav used plastic push rods instead for alloy and the threaded inserts can easily pull out of the bottom or just snap as i have found. Dont put any trust in these forks they will kill you. Im ofd to get some customise titainium pushrods made now.

Strengths:    Super strong. Very plush. Soaks up the earth and ltes you focus on riding. Italian coolness.

Weaknesses:    Weight but who cares they ride sooooooo good.

Bottom Line:
For the cross country rider or the week end warrior this fork is the pip! You can't kill it nor will it try to kill you. Over two years, the maintenance has been low with just one oil change. No leaks and the origional seals are still holding. Those Italians know suspension.

Strengths:    Non nonsense design, great price (I got it a bit used), strong and stiff, good dampening, plush springs, doesn't bottom easily (stock springs were just right for me , 170 pounds).

Weaknesses:    Weight maybe, 3.9 pounds, not really bad for a coil forks that works this well at this price. 70 mm travel, but who really needs more on a XC hardtail? No boots, also not really a problem if you clean and service it every year or so.

Bottom Line:
A great fork for hardtails. It was a good choice for someone like me who wanted good performance at a low price, and wasn't incredibly worried about weight (I still say it's not that important.) I'm very happy that I got this and that I didn't save up a ton of money and waste it on a bunch of stupid features (adjustable damping, etc.) that I don't really need. It works so well with so little maintencance that I'm starting to forget that it's there. Definitely a good thing.

Strengths:    Great ride, no bouncing
Lateral stiffness, no play at all
Great handling

Weaknesses:    None yet

Bottom Line:
I finally upgraded my Bridgestone with the zoke Z-3 (after reading your reviews), got a good closeout deal on a 99. Most outstanding characteristic (vs the Rock Shocks I've ridden) is the incredible stiffness of the fork, feels like a regular non-susp fork. Really notice the improvement in handling. Saw some riders recommended heavy springs, regular progressive springs work just fine X-C for me (195 lnbs). Read about how plush the zokes are, really didn't notice that as much as how the fork is well behaved (damped) in most conditions (even though this is not adjustable on Z-3). Don't notice the weight at all.
Several bike shops told me that adding a suspension fork to a non-suspension geometry wouldn't handle well, that was baloney. Bike rides better, steers better. I extended the steerer height with shims to get the geometry I wanted, along with the stem. Since my bike was 1", interchangeable steerers is great feature.
Only problem I've had with Z-3 is that one side stanchion clamp bolts backed out after 1st hard ride! I didn't even notice until my next ride, aluminum brace is so stiff the stanchion barely moved. Got new bolts (easy from hardware store) even before the free ones came from Marzocchi. One other thing I've noticed over several months is stanchions slipping upward slightly, periodically I loosen bolts and move it down (against the lockring). Marzocchi seems to spec the torque too low.
Great deal on a good suspension fork for X-C

Strengths:    Didn't really add a whole lotta weight to the bike, GREAT improvement over rigids (heh, don't laugh!)

Weaknesses:    Haven't found any yet....

Bottom Line:
OK, let's start this off by laying some ground work - this was an upgrade from RIGID forks (stock!!). Did the swap drastically change the geometry of the bike - No. Did the swap keep my hands from buzzing after a 60 minute ride? - Yes. Did the swap cost me a lot of money - No ($200). Was it worth it - Yes (every penny).

Again, to put things in perspective, I spent half the cost of my entire bike when purchased new for these forks. Scared the hell outta me. I look back now and see that $200 for forks really isn't that much money at all, but I don't have the luxury of spending much more that on my upgrades, even if the upgrades are this significant.

Great option for someone upgrading from rigid forks. Since they are available with a 1" steerer, I was able to get them to fit my older bike. Now that I've purchased a newer frame, all I had to do was get a hold of a 1 1/8" steerer and keep the forks I've now fallen in love with (awwwww! how cute)

Strengths:    -feel bomb proof
-track great
-GREAT DAMPENING
-Shines on Singletrack that is realativley smooth

Weaknesses:    -travel
-not the best when bombing rock gardens at super high speeds
BAM is for that
-No Boots? Whats that about. they look cooler that way...lol

Bottom Line:
Great shock...I reviewed awile back and have now hit the 300 mile mark. The problem was not that they werent broke in it was that they are NOT made for going through LOOSE rock gardens and super high speeds they are great for single track. On the other hand...when it gets technical or the rocks/roots are secure they are GREAT. Also they are stiff so therefor they aare FAST not Plush. They also do not washout. Great shock and I HIGHLY reccomend. In Fact I am switching out forks so that I can get the great feel of the zocchies on my new sugar
