Strengths: Bought this fork in 2001. I change the oil every year. I've changed the bushes/seals once. It's 100% reliable. Very plush action, excellent damping.Weaknesses: Maybe slightly flexy compared to latest generation of forks.Bottom Line: These are now fitted to 2004 Kona Kula Delux. The bike goes like a whippet. Never had any problems with this fork, it still performs as new.Recommended.

Strengths: Lateral stiffness is awesome. Fork action is great, one of the best forks for riders over 160lbs. Mine is a 2001 model and doesn't need lockout, no bob while climbing. Coil spring action is primo and can be upgraded to 100mm travel. Highly recommended for low maintenance, no worries about performance and makes for a fine ride.
Weaknesses: No on the fly travel adjustment. Slightly overweight, but you never know it unless you are crunching numbers on paper.Bottom Line: Can be found at a reasonable price. Very reliable. Makes an excellent race/cross country fork. Lacks long travel adjustment capability on the fly compared to new forks. I highly recommend this fork for riders over 160 lbs. and cross country riders.

Strengths: The best fork I've ever owned. It seems easier to steer thru bumps and tight turns than any fork I've used in the past. It's ease of adjustment makes this possible. I find it very fluid like even when it's cranked up.Weaknesses: If you have the polished version like I have, sometimes the sun reflection burns holes in your're retna. Warning do not use this fork hungover.Bottom Line: There are a lot of sales pitches out there, some focus on weight others on name brand, and some on color, yea, whether it matches your're frame or not. This fork may be a little heavier than some air forks of the same price, but the two differ in feel. You can't beat coil/oil. It's also pretty much bulletproof and maintence free.

Strengths: looks, strength, valving, external rebound and preloadBottom Line: Sweet fork. In my opinion one of the best 80mm XC forks ever made. The HSCV valving works great. Pretty tough for a XC race fork. I have a pair in mint condition w a 1" inch steerer and dont use them anymore b/c I bought a new bike. For about $50 marzocchi will press in a new 1 1/8" steerer. So e mail if if you want this $500 dollar fork for $100!

- I don´t like the painting of the ´02 modellBottom Line: The Bottom line is performance. This fork is buttery smooth, tracks very well and the damping system keeps everything under control even when it gets tough on downhills. Perfect trail fork that works perfect under any, really any condition. In the past year I rode this thing through mud, snow, dust, rain, rocky terrain, forrest trails.
Besides theses advantages, I think another plus is the fact that maintenance jobs like changing the oil or springs can be done quite easily. I hate it to have my bike at the LBS for something like this when I could be riding instead. So finding the right setup and keeping the fork at full performance is possible for anybody. The best fork is useless if you don´t ride the right setup ! I found the right setup for me after switching to a tougher spring and lowering the oil level.
Well, at the end, I cannot do anything else and give this awesome fork the highest rating, both for Overall and Value.
It is not cheap, but it will outlast any of these crappy SID Forks.

Strengths: Makes my bike handle like it should. I never knew mntn bikes could steer so well with a good fork like this one.
Rebuildable. NO AIR SPRINGS, only REAL SPRINGSWeaknesses: Nothing unless your concerned about a small increase in weight.Bottom Line: Thanks to all the other reviews I bought this fork, THANK YOU ALL! The fork works great because it makes your bike so much easier to ride.I never get monkey paw any more either. It soaks up everything and makes your bike handle like a dream. I don't even think about being launched over the bars like my rock shox made me feel. Get one of these forks while you can because the new ones are probably not as good or filled with air, and we all know air leaks out of everything eventually.

Strengths: Stiff, plush, stiff, plush ...Weaknesses: Owners manual sucks pretty bad. Could be more detailed and descriptive in terms of setting up and service.Bottom Line: Did I mention it's stiff and plush? Well, it's stiff and plush. I got a buyout deal from Supergo for 270 smackers. It took some time to work out the setup with twiddling the dials and having it setup right really makes a difference. It's saved my bacon twice, soaking up rocks and g-outs that would have eaten my rockshox. For a 200-210lb rider these forks are the bomb. Ok, so maybe they're heavier than a air/air fork but the confidence and ride I get definately makes up for it ... I go faster on these than I ever did on my Rocksux.

Strengths: Everything butWeaknesses: perhaps weight, if you want it ultralightBottom Line: An update. Simply the best. Going strong under 220 lbs with xtra heavy springs and weight 15 oil. Not much difference to the Atom 80 00 which I use in another hardtail of mine since two years. It functions very well, it is stiff, it holds out, it is 1750g. Not too much weight for perfect performance. I always looked on the new generation of versatile 02 forks with a suspicious eye. Those gimicks, An answer to a question nobody asked. Strengths: Silky smooth, no stiction, very little flex, nice range of adjustability, on and on and on...Weaknesses: None yet!Bottom Line: This fork inspires confidence! I find myself hitting obstacles just for kicks. I have been riding for a long time and have never bought a single item that made such a huge impact on my bike's handling and performance. So what if it weighs more than my frame? The ride is worth it. If you've got $300 under your mattress, buy this fork.

Strengths: Very plush, and precise stearing. Set it up, and just about forget it. Accept for a little maintenance there's not a thing to worry about with this beauty.Weaknesses: None.....unless you're worried about a little weight......but the trade-off in performance it well worth it.Bottom Line: If you want a great fork, and you're not worried about a little weight, then get this fork. It's very plush, and laterally stiff. Just a note: My fork came set up very slow from Marzocchi, but with just a little bit of adjustments, (external), the fork felt great.

Strengths: Reliability and performance. Fork is worth the weight.Weaknesses: Product works as designed. No suprises.Bottom Line: This fork makes my bike manageable on difficult terrain as it tracks very well and has excellent dampening. No, it does not have a compression adjustment but neither does most motorcycle forks. By adjusting my fork oil I have adjusted the compression dampening to fit my riding style and trail conditions and now I am very happy with the performance. A socket wrench opens it up to change the oil and I scored my auto's dipstick to make fork level adjustment easy. Why pay $35 for a fork oil change?
Yep, the m arch is not shiny but I do not buy bike parts for looks. Never wash my bike anyway. Plan to find a 2001 without EEC for my next frame I like the fork so much. If you are concerned about weight and ride reasonably smooth trails you might be better served elsewhere. IMHO the compromise of a pound is not worth the very obvious decrease in performance and reliability I observed with the SID forks. Well suited for aggressive cross-country and/or heavy riders.
