Strengths:    quite a good reliable fork for the budget price.

Weaknesses:    limited adjustability, the preload adjuster on my forks seized after about 6 months. still no cure...

    Bottom Line:
the forks are outstnding in terms of value. obviously they aren't sid team's but for the price that you pay, they are most productive you'll find in term's of performance.

Strengths:    It took 2,5 years before the suspention became a bit weaker, but, if it still existed, I would buy a new

Weaknesses:    It's a suspention that absorbs like a spunge when you don't clean it, or if you don't fill it with microlube in time

    Bottom Line:
Medium fork, and, you must have time to clean it, to ...

Strengths:    None really, thats why its called an ENTRY LEVEL fork

    Weaknesses:    Everything

    Bottom Line:
This fork can barely do anything except for like trail riding. I talked to the guys at Answer and they said it can barely do more than take a curb. Like 10 times after I landed the shaft cap blew out w/ the spring into my chest and left a bruise, and to my surprise only had a spring in one side. I finally got an '03 Duke XC w/ UTURN. I suggest making this upgrade. It has awsome rebound, can take just about any cross country hit. Its $50 less than the SL, and works just as well and is 4.19 instead of 4.13 for the sl. Manitou lost my trust.

Strengths:    not much to rave about

Weaknesses:    just a cheap festy front shock

    Bottom Line:
yeah there pretty bad but its a cheap fork ofcouse it is not going to perform like a new duke. bit of a difference.

one thing i did that made the fork better is i put the hardest dampener in the fork and at the start it was more like a rock but after a year of breaking it in is very very nice. it is on my muck around bike and can hold up on 5 footers and jumps are fine with the magnum. its just another fork. good forks-boxxer definately

Strengths:    Hmm. Matches the paint scheme on the bike. That's about it.

Weaknesses:    I never realized how bad this fork SUCKED until I bought a 2002 Trek 8000 that had a Duke XC. The Magnum doesn't absorb anything. I watch it when I ride and the thing doesn't move except for really big hits. When I hit a jump, the fork pops back out with a KA-THUNK noise. I hate that. I might as well be riding a rigid bike. I finally took this thing off the 6000 and put a Duxe XC on this one too. You can pick up the Duke XC from pricepoint for about $159. WAY better fork.

    Bottom Line:
    THIS FORK SUCKS.

    Strengths:    cheep

Weaknesses:    nothing you wouldnt expect with such an inexpensive fork

    Bottom Line:
All i can say is anyone one of you idiots that expect this bottom of the line, blatently entry level fork to hold up under any sort of agressive riding should be bludgened with a pedal wrench. I had one that came stock on a rockhopper and i used it pretty agressivly (knowing it would eventualy fail). It finaly failed after a couple of years and is now sitting on the floor of my garage. I bought a psylo (another fork i expect to fail eventualy) and my gosh... its an improvement (oh wait i guess thats why it costs $130 more). Oh and dont blame the fork for you going over the bars, blame your bad landing/riding. Keep your front as light as possible and youll never get tossed because the fork ran out of travel.

I guess the bottom line here is, dont expect a fork that can be picked up for $60 to be super durable or ride with the same quality of a $400 fork. The fork does what its supposed to do, its an entry level fork for entry level riders who arnt going to be pushing it real hard.

Weaknesses:    everything this fork sucks! both me and my bro have this fork, the fork's bushings blew on just little bumps and drops nothing over 3', it flexes like none other

    Bottom Line:
this fork is no good just save up and get a marzocchi the only thing this fork is good for is riding to school

Strengths:    It matched my Trek, was pretty stiff, and was reasonably priced.

Weaknesses:    Bottoms out on anything higher than 6 feet. I already blew out the cartrige on the right side and can't afford to get a new fork for another month.

    Bottom Line:
Don't bother with this thing. Go right for the Fox Shox

    Strengths:    Absolutely None...accept price

Weaknesses:    The whole bloody thing!! Flexes, bottoms out and doesn't even look that great. This barely makes entry level status over department store bikes!

    Bottom Line:
I would have to say the worst fork I have ever had the misfortune of being conned into buying....lends new meaning to the phrase, "try before you buy"! These were spec'ed with the bike and unfortunately forks are an expensive component to upgrade here in Oz. For the RRP of approx. AUD$400.00, they are an absolute rip off. If I had a dollar for every time these things sent me over the bars..I would have a set of RS Psylo's or (any) Marzocchi's by now!

Strengths:    good for the money and entry level riders... hey it at least has some travel.

Weaknesses:    pretty much everything. bottoms out with the weight of my little toe, flexes like a mother and makes funny noises when bottoming out.

    Bottom Line:
marginal for an entry level rider, BUT anything other than riding on pavement it bottoms out. The pre-load adjuster is a joke and makes absolutley no difference what so ever. if you have half a brain you would get rid of that peice of crap as fast as you can. Upgrading is about as important as having wheels on your ride.

    Strengths:    Cheap.
    Rides reasonably well

    Weaknesses:    Flex (massive)

    Bottom Line:
Its great for weekenders like me with jus a bit of trail ridin and no heavy downhill. Visibly flexes with minimil pressure, but its still in 1 piece after some serious work (regular 5ft drop offs). Seeing at the price u can buy them now (bout £70, $95), its a bargin! By far the best fork for the price.
