from Finland Date Reviewed: March 27, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Great parts Great frame XC-geometry Light | | Weaknesses: | All-black color scheme doesn't suite me (but the Judy's yellow :) Frightening tires Not the cheapest full XT-bike | | Bike Setup: | Full XT & Rockshox SL | | Bottom Line: | I have the '98 full XT version. The finely finished steel frame feels very nice and the bike's quite light (10,9 kg). The riding position is low. It's ovbiously made for cross country use and I like it. The stock tires (IRD PiranhaPro 2.00") make it light and accelerate VERY fast but also rather unpredicrable in fast cornering.
I've ridden it in -10C and have had absolutely no problems with any other part except the Judy SLs MCUs, which freeze when you ride below 0C. This makes the fork rather rigid. No rear (or front) derailleur problems whatsoever.
This bike climbs like anything I've ever ridden (partly because of the tires but mainly because of the geometry). | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Reasonable price, XT/LX parts, very stiff frame. No doubt worth buying. I mostly ride on pavements but the few times I tried off-road Tunturi Equillar went smoothly. Only when it was below 15 degrees (Celsius) the Shimano XT rear detailleur became tricky. | Overall Rating: |
