Strengths: I would have to agree with harry on the valve caps they are great.Thats about it.Weaknesses: The seat gave me hemroids.Anyway unlike harry i dont think the brake cables are that good,for instance i was going down a rather steep hill and when i tapped the brake th ecable snapped and hit me in the eye,(it hurt wurse then it lookes).I contacted specialized and they replaced them for free,i was impressed.The grips gave me blisters all about(they were quite eritating).Bottom Line: Bikes not worth the money,except for the valve caps.Actually i put it up on ebay and sold for a good price i fell bad for the guy.I have to mention this one incident though just to help changee the minds of those who think im crasy.I happened to be going about id say um 40 down a not so steep clip when i notice that the braking mechonism was failing.I jammed on the brakes like any normal human would,but as i did i found myself face first in a pile of jagged rock.When i awaked i was deformed.i must travel the streets a masked man.I give you the Specialized fsr Extreme

Strengths: Good grips,Stickers are alright,Seat is great,Good brake cables(favorite),Valve caps best on the market at least thats what i think.Weaknesses: Frames a bitt too flexable,Fork can be better,Brakes and Derailers i dont approve one bitt. My chainstay practically snaped after a 5'cliff(that is what the bikes made for right?)Bottom Line: Its a good bike other than the weaknesses i mentioned.If i were you though i would go definitly go with the new 2000 specialized fsr elite(i have the elite much better, i use my 98 fsr for spair parts that is if there are any in working condition.)the elite a good improvement compaired to the '98 fsr.

Strengths:
Price, Price & Price.Weaknesses:
BB. I caught it loosening up before it ground to a halt.Bottom Line: Took two links out of the chain,tightened the BB, put new grips on and cutoff some seat post. The shocks still work fine and no creaks from the pivot points. Still have to chop off some of the bar.

Strengths:
good freeride bike, good componets, and shocksWeaknesses:
rear end too stiff needs more travel. dosen't feel like 4.5 inches. needs roller bearings instead of nylon bushings. needs heavier rims and the radial spoking sucks.Bottom Line: it's a good bike if you fix a few things but other than that its good.
